We’re hiring at Northern Steam Sauna and looking to add either an experienced Lead Carpenter or Project Manager to our team.
We’re a small, fast-growing custom sauna company currently completing roughly one sauna per week, with demand continuing to increase. This is not a dead-end position. There is real opportunity to grow with the company, take on more responsibility, lead people, and help shape how we operate as we scale.
For a Lead Carpenter, the role would be hands-on and production-focused. You would be responsible for helping lead custom sauna builds both in the shop and on-site, keeping projects moving efficiently, maintaining a high standard of craftsmanship, coordinating with the rest of the crew, keeping tools and job sites organized, and making sure the finished product meets Northern Steam standards. Day to day, you could be framing, installing siding and roofing, completing cedar interiors and benching, leading another carpenter or helper, loading materials, reviewing plans, solving field issues, and helping bring projects across the finish line.
We’re looking for someone who can show up on time, work independently, communicate clearly, take ownership of the job, pay attention to details, and keep a productive pace without sacrificing quality. Prior carpentry and construction experience is required, and experience leading crews or managing projects is a major plus.
Lead Carpenter Starting Pay: $35–$45/hour, based on experience and ability.
For a Project Manager, the role would be focused on overseeing projects from the time they are sold through final completion. You would coordinate customers, crews, materials, subcontractors, site preparation, delivery schedules, and project timelines while making sure everyone knows what needs to happen next. Day to day, that could include reviewing plans, confirming selections with homeowners, ordering and coordinating materials, scheduling crews and subcontractors, visiting job sites, solving problems before they become delays, communicating project updates, and making sure projects stay on schedule and meet our quality standards.
We’re looking for someone who is extremely organized, comfortable managing multiple moving pieces, strong with customers and tradespeople, able to make decisions, and willing to take full ownership of projects instead of waiting to be told what to do.
Project Manager Starting Pay: competitive and similar to the Lead Carpenter range for the right experienced candidate, generally $35–$45/hour, depending on background, construction knowledge, and level of responsibility.
Northern Steam is still a small company, which means the right person will have significantly more upside than they would walking into a huge organization. We want someone who is interested in helping build the company, not just punching a clock.
We are looking to hire immediately.

This is a sauna I remember visiting often growing up.

My dad would bring me and my brother’s here, sometimes after a day spent around “the farm” at Grandma and Grandpa’s, hanging out at the shack, splitting firewood or deer hunting. We’d sit in the heat listening to stories from grandpa, dad, uncles and cousins.

Being back here tonight with friends and family brought a lot of those memories flooding back.

That’s a big part of why we love building saunas at Northern Steam. A sauna has never been just a place to get hot it’s where people slow down, tell stories, laugh and reconnect.

We’re not just building saunas. We’re building places where families can make memories of their own for generations to come!

Another Northern Steam sauna right at home in Maple Lake, Minnesota. 🔥

John chose one of our Tuli models, customized to complement his home and backyard. In this video, he shares what the process was like from the first conversation through delivery, and ultimately what gave him the confidence to move forward with Northern Steam.

For us, it’s about more than building a great sauna. It’s making sure our customers feel confident in the design, understand what they’re getting, and have a team they can trust throughout the entire project.

We appreciate John trusting us with his project and we love how this one turned out.

Nothing speaks louder than hearing it directly from the customer.

JP in Chaska, MN shares his experience working with Northern Steam from the initial conversations and helping him work through the design, to our knowledge of traditional sauna and the entire on-site construction process.

One thing we really appreciated hearing was his feedback on our crew and how tidy, meticulous, and respectful they were while building right at his home.

JP’s advice to anyone researching a sauna: reach out to Northern Steam, have the conversation, and get our opinion before making your decision.

We’re proud of how this project turned out and even more proud to have another happy sauna owner here in Minnesota.

Thanks again for trusting us with the project, JP!

Sauna’s heating. Fire pit’s rolling. Pool’s looking way too inviting. 🔥

This is what a Minnesota backyard is supposed to look like.

Hot sauna → cold plunge → fire → repeat.

Built for nights you don’t want to end.
