For a little while now, I have been grieving from the places that distance and life separated me from.
I got this text while reflecting in a particular way on the beautiful people I have met in Kaapstad. The author of this thought made me feel so blessed and special🫶🏽.
I had to remind myself that you can grieve from the places and that grief is not always pejorative. It could be an invitation to remind ourselves that despite the distance, people we love still carry us in their thoughts. And that we have to heal from the distance.
Maybe healing is not just about letting go of the distance. May be it is learning how to give that love to new places while still caring the beautiful souls we love in our thoughts.
Much love❤️❤️❤️

The lies we tell ourselves!
Some of us often lie to ourselves that styling prevails over caring when it comes to our hair. We have to remind ourselves that hairline is the continuation of skin and it’s equally sensitive as our face is.
The truth is that frontals industry with the amount of chemical products needed to sn**ch brown women face down is worth a billion dollars industry.
South Korea alone makes 11 billions annually from the sale and exports of wigs, glue, eyelashes, skin care…then you have Vietnam, India, China, Pakistan,Peru, Cambodia…
The uncomfortable conversation we are unwilling to have as being the markets growing other communities industries making billions is how inconveniencing are all these chemicals to only speak of glued wigs.
Let aside helping grow other communities, gluing down your hairline remains a personal choice with health risk implications.
As much as glued wigs provide a sleek look that almost gives you a natural looking hold, they equally cause traction alopecia, skin irritation, pore blockages, trapping sweat and bacteria, hair loss and damage.
What is traction alopecia? Traction alopecia is mechanical hair loss caused by tight pulling hairstyle. The good news is that you can recover from this type of alopecia but the recovery process will cause you patience, time and money. Feel free to talk to us if you’re experiencing any traction issues.
To conclude, the best attitude is to mitigate by choosing your hair tech, hair products and styles carefully.

Beyond dryness , they are four major causes of hair damage:
1-Mechanical damage from friction, you cotton pillow case, rough combing, tight “protective styles” and mishandling wet hair.
2-Thermal damage from your hairdresser struggling to use the heat from electrical tools( flat iron, curling tools and excessive blow drying).
3-Chemical damage from harsh chemicals or rather from chemical processes( bleaching, relaxing and repeated processes)
4-Environmental damage from pollution, UV exposure, weather and chlorine.
These hair damage usually overlap and multiply. One could cumulate all four in one head😩😩😩One the cuticles become compromised, the hair strands become vulnerable to breakage, moisture loss and damage. This is also tribulable to the fact that split-ends lead to breakages and breakage lead to new split-ends.
Products may improve the feel of the hair, appearance and strength of damaged hair but mitigation is what protects the length you still have.
Which type of damage do you think your hair experience the most?
