We all know the analogy: you can’t pour from an empty cup- but how many of us are consciously filling that cup with what our body, mind and central nervous system actually need?

We don’t need another thing to organise.

So, as we begin to wind down 2026, Matis Fourways has created The Alchemic Edit — three months of skincare, beauty maintenance and intentional time for yourself, thoughtfully planned in advance.

Because perhaps it’s no longer only about the health of your skin, keeping your pedicure fresh or maintaining the treatments you already enjoy.

Your body is constantly receiving information.
In a neuro-chiropractic appointment, my doc for the past decade-ish begins by looking at how your nervous system is responding — not only where you feel discomfort.

Your CNS helps coordinate movement, balance, sensation and your body’s response to stress.
The sympathetic nervous system is often described as “fight, flight or freeze"
The parasympathetic nervous system supports “rest, digest and repair” — the state where the body can soften, recover and regulate - and fall asleep without meds after creating a restful environment!

The goal is not to force the body into balance, but to give the nervous system appropriate information so it can begin finding better organisation and regulation.
This looks very different from a taditional chiropractic appointment - trust! I've been to MANY!
They usually include manual adjustments or manipulation of the spine - which - turns out, I shouldn't have because im hypermobile (hEds) Yep- only took 33 Years to diagnose... - we'll circle back!

For me, this distinction matters personally!
Because of hypermobility, my joints move beyond the usual range and my body does not always tolerate forceful or manual manipulation well. What may be appropriate for one person may not be appropriate for another. This is why individual assessment matters.

My appointment became a conversation about the brain, the body, the nervous system, proprioception, regulation and the way I experience the world through my body so intimately.
