Some grief is quiet.
It doesn’t scream.
It just makes the coffee taste like nothing
and turns every room half a degree colder.

I keep checking old messages
like they’ll grow new words if I look long enough.
Like "I miss you" could turn into "I’m here."

I learned how to be okay alone.
That’s the sad part —
I got really good at it.
Good at smiling in photos.
Good at saying "I’m fine" and meaning "don’t ask."

The house is clean.
The bed is made.
And I’m still waiting
for something to feel like home again.

Maybe one day the ache will be a scar, not a wound.
Until then I just carry it,
softly,
like a glass that hasn’t broken yet.

I learned how to smile
with a mouth full of glass.
Every word I swallowed
cut on the way down,
but I called it "being strong."

Some nights the silence is so loud
it sits on my chest
and asks me questions I can't answer.
Like: _when did you stop feeling like home to yourself?_

I keep people in little boxes
labeled "don’t lose them"
and then watch the boxes collect dust
because I’m scared to open them.

Pain isn’t always screaming.
Sometimes it’s just
making coffee for one,
deleting the text,
and telling yourself
"this is fine"
until you almost believe it.

But even cracked things hold light, you know?
Even quiet rooms echo.
