I come from a family where we were taught that you must always be presentable. 😂 At home, someone would always remind you, “Awunazo izimpahla, you need to buy new clothes.”

My grandmother was the queen of inspections. The moment you walked through the door, she’d look at you from head to toe before saying anything. Then she’d smile and say, “Wamuhle sesi,” or, “Sesi, you need another pair of shoes. I’ve seen you wearing these too many times.” 🤣

My mom was exactly the same because she took after her mother. The two of us did everything together—grocery shopping, clothes shopping, furniture shopping… literally everything. We always wanted each other’s opinion.

Then in 2021, after my mom passed away, I lost that part of myself. 🥹 Shopping became painful because it reminded me of her. Slowly, I stopped putting effort into myself. I was surviving, but I wasn’t really living.

Then Forever Living came into my life. The business gave me a reason to show up again. Success Days, trainings, galas, conventions… they all required me to dress up. Little by little, I started finding myself again. I dusted myself off, embraced dressing up, and started smiling at the woman in the mirror again.

And honestly… I don’t think my mom would’ve wanted to see me giving up on myself.

I’m sharing this because someone out there might be where I once was. Grief, disappointment, heartbreak, or life may have caused you to neglect yourself.

This is your reminder: Get up. Dust yourself off. Wear the dress. Buy the shoes. Smile again. Live again. ❤️

The people we love may no longer be here, but I believe they’d want to see us living fully, not just existing.
