Decided to switch things up and try the “reverse styling” trend. 👀

First things first, I started with a clean foundation. I shampooed and conditioned my hair using and to make sure my curls were clean, hydrated, and ready for styling.

Before blow drying, I applied my leave in conditioner, cream, oil, and butter. Layering my moisturizing products first helps my hair hold on to moisture throughout the style.

For a little extra hold on my ends, I finished with Bee Girl Honey Curl Custard.

So far, I’m really loving the results! Now the real question is… how long will this style last? 👀

After watching this, would you give reverse styling a try?

One of the biggest mistakes I see is people thinking every shampoo does the same thing. It doesn’t.

A clarifying shampoo and a moisturizing shampoo both have their place in a healthy hair care routine. A clarifying shampoo helps remove buildup, excess oil, and impurities when your hair needs a fresh start. A moisturizing shampoo gently cleanses while helping your hair stay soft, hydrated, and manageable between clarifying washes.

In this video, I’m using The Doux Break Down Clarifying Shampoo and Donna’s Recipe Moisturizing Shampoo to show you the difference and when to reach for each one.

Remember, healthy hair isn’t about using more products. It’s about using the right products at the right time.

✨ Save this for your next wash day and send it to someone who’s still wondering which shampoo they should be using.

My first attempt at knotless braids. 😅
I just learned how to braid a couple of weeks ago. 🥳
Practice makes perfect. 👏🏽
I used leave in conditioner and extra creamy hair cream. 💖
Gel: Push It! Braid and Edge Gel. 🔥
My mom hasn’t had her hair braided since high school. 🫂🥹

Would you believe me if I told you I never knew how to braid (only plait) until two days ago?! 😅

I’m not sure why braiding felt so intimidating, but after learning the different techniques, I can honestly say I’m excited to try new styles, feed-ins, and keep improving. ✨

Cosmetology school is going well so far, y’all—and I’m proud of myself for stepping outside my comfort zone. Growth really happens when you stop being scared to learn something new. 🥳

We love a BIG CHOP❗️🥰
Swipe to see what her hair looked like before

My mom’s hair had become dry, brittle, and over-processed from coloring it at home. It would frizz quickly, making wash & gos hard to maintain. She told me she was ready for a fresh start, so we cut it all off. ✂️✨

I love starting with a fresh canvas because now we can get her curls back on the right path and focus on healthy hair from the foundation up.

She has coarse hair, so hydration is key. We’re deep conditioning once a week to help soften the hair, improve moisture retention, and support healthy growth. Consistency is everything. 💧🌱

We’re also keeping her in low-manipulation styles so her hair can rest, avoid unnecessary tension, and thrive while it grows out.

For her wash & go, we used in this order:
✨ Leave-In Conditioner
✨ Hair Cream
✨ Gel

After finger coiling the ends, we diffused until dry, then sealed everything in with a hair oil/butter for shine and lasting moisture. Don’t be afraid to let the damaged hair go. ✂️

A heat cap is a game changer when it comes to deep conditioning ✨

Here’s why: it gently applies heat to the hair, helping to swell and lift the cuticle so your products can actually pe*****te the hair shaft instead of just sitting on top.

Let’s break down the parts:
• Heat cap – the source of the heat
• Shower/plastic cap – locks in moisture and keeps things clean
• Electric cord – powers the cap
• Remote control – allows you to adjust heat and time settings
• Inner lining – helps distribute heat evenly
• Elastic band – keeps the cap snug and secure

The benefits? Better moisture retention, improved elasticity, and healthier, more manageable hair overall.

I personally use mine once a week, but how often you should use it really depends on the condition of your hair.

Consistency is key—but always listen to your hair 💛

This was my first attempt at coiling using a styling comb, and I’m honestly proud of how it came out. 🥰 I used the Honey Curl Custard to give the coils some hold without making them stiff or heavy.

After coiling her entire head, I went in with the diffuser to lift the roots and add a little volume—because we love a full, soft look.

Next time, I’ll probably incorporate a gel to get cleaner, more defined parts. But for this look, I wanted her to have flexibility. She can unravel the coils later and still rock a soft, moisturized Afro without worrying about dryness, flaking, or stiffness.

Off camera, we really focused on prep and moisture. I clarified her hair with , followed up with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner from , and then deep conditioned using the mask under a heat cap for 30 minutes.

I recommend low-maintenance styling—something that keeps her hair healthy, hydrated, and easy to manage throughout the week without constant restyling.

Thank you Su for trusting me to flat iron your hair today! 🫶🏽 This was my first time flat ironing someone else’s hair (outside of my own), so it really meant a lot that she let me practice—and I don’t think I did too bad either. 😌

Next time, I’d switch it up a little—probably blow dry with a round brush instead of a paddle brush, and go lighter on the product since her hair leans more on the oily side. But overall, she loved the results and that’s what matters most!

My girl is gorgeousssss. 💖

Currently practicing spiral curls and I’m really loving how this is coming together! ✨ I used a 1-inch curling iron to achieve this look.

The first few photos show the curls before I combed them out and removed the parting—just so you can see the full process. Once I softened everything, the final result gave exactly what it needed to give. I’m not mad at it at all. 💁🏽‍♀️

Definitely still working on my speed and making the curls cleaner, but progress is progress!

What do y’all think—do you prefer the defined curls or the brushed-out look? 👀

I used curling irons back in high school, but learning the professional way to use this tool has definitely been a little challenging. Still, I’m excited to keep practicing these spiral curls. For a first attempt, it’s not too bad!

Now I just need some real heads to practice on… 👀 Any ladies want to come by the school and let me give you some curls? 💁🏽‍♀️
