The lights are off, you're inches from the screen, hypnotized by the frantic handheld camera slicing through the dark. As the wick burns, The air in the room begins to feel unnaturally heavy and damp.
You hear a floorboard creak behind your chair and freeze, paralyzed by the visceral feeling that if you turn your head, you'll be staring straight at the basement corner of a house lost in the woods.

You’re curled on the couch as the familiar synth score echoes from the TV. The scent of spiced c***r and carved pumpkin fills your living room, until suddenly, the air in your room turns sharp and cold.
It no longer smells like a cozy movie night; it smells like someone standing right outside your now opened window in the dead of autumn. You pause the tape mid scene, staring down the dark hallway, convinced the shadow in the doorway wasn't there five minutes ago.
