Introducing The Rowin Method
Let's get you Rowin Certified

Not all installs are created equal. This method is what keeps my clients coming back. Flat, secure, and grows out beautifully.

This is the exact technique I teach stylists in my classes. Wanna learn it too? 🤎

A staple in our routine: Kérastase Résistance Sérum Thérapiste 💧

This is a product we reach for religiously on damaged or over-processed hair. It's a dual-action, leave-in serum that binds and repairs in one step: sealing split ends, protecting against heat up to 450°F, and cutting down blow-dry time.

A few reasons why it works so well:
🧬 FIBRA-KAP technology helps replenish missing hair proteins
🌿 Resurrection sap deeply hydrates and helps regenerate damaged fiber
🔥 Heat protection up to 450°F
💆🏼‍♀️ Softens coarse or unruly texture without weighing hair down

You don't need this exact product to get similar results. A few alternatives at different price points: L'Oréal Elvive Total Repair 5 Protein Recharge, Joico K-Pak Color Therapy Luster Lock, or TRESemmé Pro Pure Damage Recovery Serum.

Flip it up, and this is what a clean install actually looks like ✨

Row placement, color matching, and a tight track are what separate wefts that blend...from wefts that announce themselves. If it still looks this seamless once you flip the hair, it was done right.

Split ends don't have to be part of the deal with extensions 💧

Extensions don't get natural oils from the scalp, which makes them extra prone to drying out, frizzing, and splitting at the tips over time. A split-end serum helps seal and hydrate those ends so the hair stays soft and looking healthy for the life of the set.

We love Kérastase Nutritive Nutri-Supplement Split Ends Serum for this. You don't need this exact product; any lightweight, silicone-light split-end serum or oil will do the job. A few similar options: Virtue Split End Serum, Olaplex No. 7 Bonding Oil, and Moroccanoil Treatment Light.

The golden rule with any serum or oil on extensions: apply from mid lengths to ends only, and keep it away from the bonds, tape, or beads. Oils can break down adhesive and cause slipping.

Before this set ever gets installed, we wash it with Kérastase Blond Absolu. It's made specifically for bleached, highlighted, or lightened blonde hair. It's also what we recommend clients use (or a similar brand) to maintain blonde extensions at home.

Bain Ultra-Violet cancels brassiness before it starts. Hyaluronic acid and edelweiss keep the hair conditioned instead of stripped, which matters when you're protecting a client's investment in extensions.

We follow with Cicaflash to rebuild strength and add moisture without weighing the hair down, so the extensions stay soft and glossy instead of turning dry and tangled a few weeks post-install.

This is also why it's worth recommending as a retail staple for blonde extension clients. Anyone skipping the right products at home is more likely to come back brassy and dry by their next appointment.

Measuring before cutting: why this step matters ✂️

Before any weft gets cut, we measure it against the amount of hair actually needed. Cutting the full measured amount at once (instead of trimming small pieces off until it "looks right") keeps the process precise and non-wasteful, and means the leftover hair is still usable for another row, another client, or another day. Guessing and re-cutting in small increments turns usable hair into scrap.

A simple step, but it makes a real difference in how much use you get out of your hair inventory.

Stylists…do you install extensions without washing them first?? Here's why that matters 👀

Unwashed hair is pressed flat and looks thinner than it actually is. Once it's washed, it expands to its true fullness. That's the only way to see exactly what you're working with before it touches the client's head.

No surprises after the first wash. Just beautiful results. ✨

Before and after: solving a blending issue with strategic placement 🔎

Her goal was smoother blending. There was a section in the back where the seam of her extensions read dark, especially noticeable as they grew out. We took the extensions out, highlighted her natural hair where it needed it, then reinstalled with the rows placed higher (so we weren't hitting that same spot again) using lighter beads and lighter thread to break up the dark seam.

Small adjustments like this can extend the wear of a set and keep the blend looking seamless.

You don't have to be young to get extensions 🌼

Age doesn't determine candidacy; hair health and density do. Fine or thinning hair from age-related shedding, menopause, or hormonal changes can actually benefit the most from strategically placed hand-sewn wefts, adding both length and fullness without extra tension on fragile strands.

Stylists, assess the hair in front of you in every consult, not an assumption about who extensions are "for."
