We are honored to have received your votes, and extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Portland community.

With this win, we celebrate our beloved farmers who work so incredibly hard, year round, and whose care, commitment, stewardship, and consistent presence brings our community together, and keeps us well fed, every week of the year, rain or shine. We also celebrate our regular market shoppers who show up each week and keep us going!

And thanks to generations of both Maine farmers and the Portland community, our historic market has endured since 1768. Five of our current vendors have been selling at our market for 40-50 years! New to the Portland Farmers’ Market? We are a farmer-run, producer-only farmers’ market. We exclusively feature Maine farmers who come from across the state and produce a spectacular range of foods, flowers, and plants. We offer the largest variety in the state, of direct-from-the-producer, Maine grown fruit and vegetables, specialty cut-flowers, diversified meats and eggs, oysters, cheeses, goat and cow dairy products, mushrooms, microgreens, plus prepared foods like kraut, kimchi, hot sauces, honey, jams, cured meats, breads and pastries, herbal products, pickles, pasta, chutneys and more!

Our market can support you in exploring cooking locally, help stretch food budgets with our Food Access Program, and we’re a great place to find connections, new friends, and learn about the foods we eat- anytime of the year. It’s the last day to vote for us!

Goldenrod is in bloom right now, and these next two weeks are the time to gather it if you're going to.

Take the flowering tops just as they open, on a dry morning after the dew has burned off. Strip them from the stem, spread them somewhere shady and airy, and let them dry all the way through before they go in a jar. The tea is warm, slightly bitter, and has a surprisingly light anise scent.

And if you've been avoiding goldenrod because you think it sets off your hay fever, the culprit is ragweed. It's a plain green plant blooming in the same ditch, and nobody notices it.
