Let’s talk about something that shouldn’t even have to be said.

My chair is a safe space. For EVERYONE. And I mean EVERYONE.

Recently, I had a client use the N-word while sitting in my chair. And I want to make something very clear: That language is NOT welcome in my space. Period.

And while we’re having this conversation, let’s make something else clear. We don’t use the R-word. We don’t use homophobic or transphobic slurs. We don’t make racist jokes, mock disabilities, or degrade people for simply existing as themselves.

I don’t care if you think it’s funny. I don’t care if “that’s just how you talk.” And I don’t care if you didn’t mean anything by it.

Your intentions do not erase the impact of your words.

I have clients from ALL walks of life. Clients with disabilities and special needs. Clients who are gay, straight, transgender, and everything in between. Clients of different races, religions, backgrounds, and beliefs.

And you know what? I LOVE every single one of my people.

Not just because they support my business. But because they’re HUMAN. Because they deserve kindness. Because they deserve to walk into a salon, sit in my chair, and know they are respected, accepted, and safe.

Some of my clients have spent their entire lives being judged, bullied, excluded, or made to feel like they don’t belong. I’ll be damned if I allow my chair to become another place where they have to feel that way.

I will protect my people. Even when they aren’t in the room to hear what’s being said about them.

Being a hairstylist is so much more than doing hair. I hear your stories. I celebrate your wins. I listen when life gets heavy. I build relationships with people who trust me with so much more than their appearance.

And I take that trust seriously.

I will never choose a paycheck over my morals. I will never tolerate hateful language just to avoid making someone uncomfortable. And I will absolutely lose a client before I allow another client to feel unwelcome in my space.

You do not have to think like me, believe what I believe, or live the way I live.

But you WILL respect the people who sit in my chair. Whether they’re sitting beside you or not.

This isn’t about politics. This isn’t about being sensitive. This is about basic human decency.

I love my people fiercely. ALL of them. And I will continue to stand up for them, speak up for them, and protect the space I’ve worked so hard to create.

Hate has no home in my chair. And my silence will never be mistaken for acceptance. And if you can’t respect that- find a new chair. Respectfully.
