I always joke that these kids’ cell phones are basically an extension of their bodies. 🤣

We got this beauty back-to-school ready with a full, curly crochet style and a gorgeous dimensional color blend. 💕

This style was perfect for her—and she loved how cute she looked! The goal was to cut down on daily styling, so crochet braids were the #1 choice for now.

Cute, low-maintenance, and ready for those busy school mornings. ✨

Now the hair is handled…everything else is up to her. 😂

Some hair transformations take time, and I never want my clients feeling like they have to sit hungry just because we’re in the middle of an extended appointment.

When an appointment crosses into mealtime, we can pause and order something to the salon. Sometimes lunch is my treat, and other times we simply order together and cover our own meals. Either way, we make room to eat, reset and get comfortable.

When possible, we even work the meal into processing time so your service can continue moving along.

That’s one of the benefits of a private, one-on-one salon experience: we can move at a more human pace. No assembly line, no unnecessary rushing and no pretending we aren’t hungry. 😂

What is this buildup—and how can you prevent it? 👀

After an extension takedown, you may notice residue collected around the scalp and base of the install. This isn’t always simply “dirt” or a sign of poor hygiene.

Scalp buildup can be a combination of:

• Natural scalp oil and sweat
• Dead skin cells
• Shed hair and lint
• Styling products, oils, and leave-ins
• Residue that wasn’t completely removed during previous shampoos

Because extensions can make certain areas of the scalp harder to reach, these materials may gradually collect—especially when an install is worn too long or the scalp isn’t thoroughly cleansed between maintenance appointments.

After removing the extensions, I carefully cleansed the scalp and hair to remove the buildup and restore a fresh, clean foundation. Look at the difference in that second photo! ✨

To help prevent excessive buildup while wearing extensions:

• Shampoo your scalp regularly using your stylist’s recommended schedule
• Apply oils and leave-in products sparingly
• Rinse thoroughly so shampoo and conditioner aren’t left behind
• Make sure the hair underneath the extensions dries completely
• Keep up with maintenance and removal appointments
• Avoid scratching, scraping or picking at the scalp

If buildup keeps returning or comes with persistent itching, redness, tenderness, sores, odor or heavy scaling, it’s time to see a dermatologist. A professional shampoo can remove ordinary buildup, but a recurring scalp condition may require medical treatment.

Healthy extension care means caring for what’s underneath—not just making the finished style look beautiful. 💕
