🖤 Recently, I had a client come in for removal that described her brow experience with another artist. She said that she used all the strings and the rulers and the crazy mapping so she figured she must be getting it really perfect and it turned into a disaster.

🖤 Of course, these tools can be helpful in the beginning when you’re learning how to balance the facial features but I almost never use them anymore.

🖤 My brain is so trained at this point to see balance on the face that I just freehand your mapping, ALWAYS sit you up to perfect and check the stroke/outline placement and then we go.

🖤 Just because someone is drawing a bunch of lines on your face, it doesn’t mean that they have that natural eye to see what is flattering, balanced, soft and matches your face.

A moment of silence for this epic pull! 🤐

🖤 The eyes are pretty sensitive to light for about 10-20 minutes following laser eyeliner removal so I don’t typically torture my eyeliner clients with after photos. However, I HAD to get evidence of this epic 1 session pull!

🖤 This result is not typical, most eyeliner removals take about 3-4 sessions for full removal but in this case, it flew right out before my eyes leaving behind a layer of soft iron oxide.

🖤 Iron oxide is RED and can be formulated into many eyeliner inks to help prevent it ashing out in the skin over time. In this case, the black flew right out and the red remained.

🖤 Can we remove the red? Yes.. but it’s not so simple as just hitting it with the laser again, we need to think about paradoxical darkening and whether or not it is worth it for the client to have to add more sessions to remove the flipped iron oxide.

🖤 In pretty much all cases, laser is a wait and see process.. let it soften, let the body continue to break down ink and see how you feel about it in about 6-8 weeks, then we make decisions for the next step.

Undo/Redo & a custom mixed red/brown!

🖤 The LAST thing you want to do after your client has just went through 5 laser treatments (2 elsewhere and 3 with me), is put a bunch of black ink back into a redhead’s face. 🚫🚫🚫

🖤 And yes, yellow is a hot debate in the PMU world right now, but with redheads you ABSOLUTELY have to use yellow or the red and black required to make a warm brown will turn grey or worse.. lavender in the skin.

Laser Eyeliner Tattoo Removal Magic! 🪄

🖤 Laser eyeliner removal takes expert care, precision and knowledge! And friends.. I remove A LOT of eyeliner..

🖤 Top asked questions are.. 1- how many sessions does it take? Of course, the answer to that is it depends. It depends on how much ink you have in the skin, how deeply it was implanted, whether it’s carbon or iron oxide black, and your body’s ability to break down that ink. Median average for full removal is 3-4 sessions spaced 10 weeks apart.

🖤 2- Does it hurt? Again.. it depends. I will numb you for 25-30 minutes prior to treatment but at the end of the day, it’s a laser being fired at your eyelid.. it’s not super comfortable but it is very fast and most people do just fine.

🖤 I rarely take immediately after photos because it’s torturous for the client to have a light in their eyes right after and in most cases, it doesn’t really tell you anything. Your body must take the appropriate amount of time to break down that ink and you rarely see a huge legitimate shift that isn’t just frosting immediately after.

Did you know if I put ink in your face, I don’t charge you to remove it?

🖤 In certain skin types, particularly if you have dark hair and want brows to be somewhere in that vacinity, they’re just going to get a bit more ashy as the years progress.

🖤 Incorporating laser removal every 5-6 years into the long term trajectory of your brows is just where this industry is headed.

Let’s talk laser removal of red brows ❤️🍎🍒

🖤 Your once BROWN brows are likely made up on red, yellow, black and sometimes white ink molecules. 🟡🔴⚪️⚫️

🖤 In the case of laser removal, the easiest and quickest molecule ( usually 😉) to remove is the black. Once this has popped out you may be left with red or orange brows.

🖤 Removing red is a bit more nuanced as in the case of iron oxide red which can flip to grey under laser energy ( paradoxical darkening ).

🖤 There are many ways to mitigate the flip to a soft grey that will be easier to remove in subsequent sessions if that is your goal. In some cases, clients are happy with the shift in tone and choose to keep them that way. In all cases, if paradoxical darkening is unavoidable, we will show you what the test spot looks like and get your approval to move forward with treatment.

🖤 It’s worth mentioning that removing red is a much less immediately satisfying process than removing black with sometimes little to no direct shift in color. Your body’s lymphatic system will break down that red ink slowly over several weeks (up to 12!)

What a transformation on these previously tattooed lips!  
 
🖤 This beauty had her lips tattooed elsewhere and did have a bit of a complicated case as the existing ink was patchy, uneven and two different colors top to bottom, swipe to see.  
 
🖤 There will likely be some of that ink that pops through as it heals which is normal and will be adjusted when she comes back in 6 weeks to redo the brows ( which we zapped after this photo! ) And.. we also touched up her existing eyeliner that didn’t need removal.

Every laser case is different! ⚡️⚡️ 
 
🖤 The ink in this lovely woman’s brows was implanted very deeply from microblading done several years ago. This case required 4 sessions of removal to get her to her clinical endpoint.  
 
🖤 She had a small amount of yellow ink residual 
In the skin after her 4th session. In this case, the yellow was quite soft and transparent and should fade completely out of her skin over the course of 6 months to a year. In many cases, the yellow does break down due to sun exposure and your body’s macrophages just doing their jobs.  
 
🖤 Not every client will be left with yellow in the skin and depends fully upon the ink that was used and it’s organic yellow molecule content. If the yellow is bright and highly saturated, glycolic removals can completely remove that yellow from the skin and yes... we do that too.
