live, laugh, lay off. why “wait until” when i can experience each moment as it is now?

The woes of food restrictions carry on, but we fight harder. Here are two of my meals on rotation that are dairy free, soy free, egg free, nightshade free, with minimal effort.

We’re taking a short deviation from our scheduled programming to girl chat, as a mom of a baby boy. It’s a hard pill to swallow, watching my infant son try to learn how to crawl while I see atrocities committed by men - who were once babies themselves. It pulls me in multiple directions. Rage. Grief. A commitment to allow him the safety to see that it is not good enough to just be a man that doesn’t harm others. It is only acceptable in this house to be a man that is bold against injustice, a man that isn’t afraid to make a scene, lose the friend, sacrifice the job — if that means protecting the vulnerable. How am I going to wage war against a whole culture, society, and pattern that tells young boys that women are simply accessories to make their lives easier, their home embellished, or bear their children. Why, in the latest headlines do I see the mob demanding the heads of the women who raised these men instead of their fathers, or better yet, the men themselves? Heaven weeps. God grieves. Lord help us, for we know not what we do. How grateful I am to know that justice belongs to God. How grateful I am to be a recipient of grace I didn’t deserve. How my blood boils, my heart breaks, and the words that could convey my sorrow allude me. Pray for the rise of real manhood, the protection of women, the mothers sending their daughters to college, the moms clutching to their son’s innocence who are trying their best. Pray for all the Jane Does of the world, and while we’re at it, pray for the demolishing of evil that can found seemingly, everywhere.

These are not stickers that can be digitally removed (which it is crazy people go that far as it is); what are your thoughts on our digital (over)sharing generation?

I’ve said it before, we couldn’t do this without a team, and even with all that help…some days I still feel like I’m barely keeping up. Evan jumps in wherever the business needs him. My assistant is elbow-deep in a new clean liquid soap formula (look out for that one 👀). My sister makes sure I’m caffeinated enough to function. My parents and in-laws take Ezra so I can actually get things done. And honestly? Thank God for that, because building this took years; years of showing up, creating buzz in my community and now beyond it, one small step at a time. If you’re a mama running something of your own right now, hear me: it doesn’t have to look easy to be working. It’s one day at a time, even for the people who look like they’ve got it figured out. You’ve got this.
