Hey, friends! It's been a little while and we have a lot to share about our 2026 plans for business. We have made the bitter sweet decision to make 2026 our last year in business after almost 8 years. This decision has come after a lot of careful thought and prayer and we are both ready to move on to a new adventure. We are beyond grateful for all that we have been blessed to accomplish, the wonderful customers we have bonded with, all that we have learned, and the ways our lives have been enriched through something as simple as soap and wax melts.

For those of you that don't know our story, we officially started the business in June of 2018. I (Ansley) was 17 years old with work experience for 2 local small businesses and a passion for entrepreneurship and creating. I was planning and saving for college and Mom (Kim) and I had been making cold process soap, lotions, sugar scrubs, and lip balms as gifts. Those gifts were so popular that we were asked to sell them, and we decided we could open an Etsy store to help pay for college. We were each working jobs and would come home and work on making, photographing, and advertising our products. We had no idea what The Pharmacist's Daughter would or could turn into! Business was slow at first, but we truly did a happy dance every time we made a sale, even though starting out we were making only 1-2 sales a month!

In August of 2019 I went to college and we put the business on the back burner, just selling in person to friends, family, through small wholesale contracts, and at local vendor markets. Then, in March of 2020 the world shut down and I was sent home from college states away. I completed my first year of college and made the difficult decision not to return due to rising costs and an uncertain ability to attend in person classes (virtual art school isn't very effective). Along with much of the world, I was uncertain of the future, but knew I needed to stay busy. I went back to work full time and spent every spare minute working for The Pharmacist's Daughter. Mom also worked full time and would come home to make soaps and later pour wax melts well into the night. We made an office in the tiny closet of a guest bedroom and I would often fall asleep working with products in my bed. All of our inventory was stored in plastic shoeboxes and only filled one shelving unit.

In late 2020 we launched our first wax melts after a year of trial and formula testing. We also left Etsy and opened www.thepharmacistsdaughter.com. Little did we know that these 2 decisions would change our lives! We were blessed to have every RTS sell out and more and more they began to sell out within hours. Our home was completely taken over by products, shipping supplies, and 50lb boxes of wax. This was the momentum we needed and propelled us to go all in for TPD. It meant practically 24/7 work for a long time, but we were driven to succeed.

In 2021 we stopped making soap and focused most of our energy on wax melts. In November, we moved to a different part of the state and rented our first workspace. Mom retired from her work of 30+ years and came to work full time for TPD. Our rental experience was a disaster so we sought out a new place to work, purchasing and moving into our current location in early 2022. We worked to establish a true production space and even opened it as a retail space in April.

Our retail space was very creatively fulfilling, being able to create and curate beautiful displays and products for people to shop. We also met so many lovely people, hosted many fellow entrepreneurs, and offered many craft classes. This retail space would also be the place I would meet my now husband in early 2023. However, as our online business grew, it became evident that what we needed was more space to produce.

In January of 2024 we chose not to reopen our storefront, but instead largely expanded our production space. We focused on a pre-order model, offering our customers the ability to tell us what they wanted. This model worked wonderfully through 2025 and we still stand by that today. We were able to create over 2000 house blends to offer our customers EXACTLY what they were looking for and from that have shipped thousands of orders.

Our lives have changed drastically in our almost 8 years, as has the business. As we step into 2026, I am preparing to welcome my first child and Mom is preparing for future retirement and grand-parenting. We have loved our time with The Pharmacist's Daughter, but have new work on the horizon and are looking forward to change. We will be offering 4 final pre-orders this year, each focusing on our most popular blends of all time and each the FINAL opportunity to purchase those blends (a post with more details to follow).

We can never thank you all enough for how much you have impacted our lives! We have been blessed beyond all measure and touched by the love and support from strangers turned to friends on the internet. We are not done either! Our newest venture is in the world of resale, which we will share more about for a chance to follow and keep up with us. We look forward to this year with excitement, not sadness. This is just our final bow in The Pharmacist's Daughter and our introduction to new adventure!🩷
