There's no one magic number for how often to trim ✂️ — and anyone who says "every six weeks or else" is selling drama, not hair care 🔮

Trim cadence is a range (about 4–12 weeks). It depends on your goals, your length, and how your ends are holding up ✨

A rough guide (every head is different):
🖤 ~4–6 weeks — keep a precise shape (short cuts, strong layers, bangs/fringe)
🖤 ~6–8 weeks — many mid-length styles + that lived-in color upkeep window
🖤 ~8–12 weeks — growing out, or longer hair when the ends are still healthy

Signs you might need one sooner: split or frayed ends, shape collapsing, ends that knot for sport, or color looking dull at the tips 💜

A trim's job is to remove damaged ends and restore shape — not to erase all your hard-earned length 💇‍♀️

Quick hair truth: if you have hard water at home, that could be why your color looks dull or brassy 🔮

Minerals build up on the hair over time and can make fresh tone look flat even when you're doing everything “right.” Soft fixes help ✨🖤

Start with the water: a whole-house water softener or whole-home filtration system, or a filtered / softening shower head (it can help reduce minerals and chlorine). Then treat the hair: clarify every few weeks, use a chelating / hard-water shampoo when things feel coated, seal with a leave-in or light oil after wash day, and book a gloss when the glow dips.

Dull ≠ dirty. Sometimes it's just minerals 💜

Quick question: what temp is your curling iron set to right now? 👀🔮

If the answer is "all the way up," your toner might be paying for it. Toner is a semi- or demi-permanent layer of tone, and high heat lifts the cuticle so it fades faster. Heat can also nudge lightened hair toward warm and brassy. The good news? You can keep your hot tools. Just use them a little smarter ✨

A general temp guide (every head is different):
🖤 Fine, fragile or lightened hair: 250–320°F
🖤 Medium/normal hair: 320–355°F
🖤 Thick or coarse hair: 355–390°F
Start low and only turn it up if you need to.

A few more ways to keep your tone fresh:
✂️ Heat protectant every time, blow-dryer included
✂️ Smaller sections and fewer passes
✂️ Lukewarm water to wash, cool water for the final rinse
✂️ Purple shampoo about once a week for blondes
✂️ Give fresh toner 48 hours before the first wash
✂️ Plan a gloss or toner refresh every 4–8 weeks
