The world got a little less sparkly yesterday. 🩵

Dolly Parton showed generations of women that you could wear the big hair, the long nails, the rhinestones and the blonde, and still be the smartest person in the room. 🦋

She was always in on the joke. "It costs a lot of money to look this cheap," she said, and she said it while running a theme park, writing some of the finest songs anybody has ever written, and putting millions of books into the hands of children who needed them.

She never went looking for respect by making herself less feminine, less funny or less Southern. She just kept being exactly who she was until the rest of the world caught up and realized how badly it had underestimated her.

That is why she matters in a room like ours. We spend our days with women in the chair who want to feel like themselves, only more so. Dolly spent a lifetime proving there is nothing frivolous about that. Getting done up is not vanity. Some weeks it is the most honest hour a woman gives herself. ✨

Today we are remembering the blonde hair, the quick wit and that voice. Even more, we are remembering the woman underneath all of it.
