The internet made wellness trendy, but I think it also made us believe that if we do everything right, we can somehow avoid being human.

We’re constantly being told there’s something else we should be doing to optimize our health, slow aging, prevent disease or fix whatever isn’t feeling quite right.

But there’s a big difference between taking responsibility for your health and believing you have complete control over it.

You can:
• Eat incredibly well and still get sick.
• Exercise and still have pain.
• Meditate and still lose your temper.
• Take great care of your skin and still age.
• Do everything “right” and still have a body that changes.

Meanwhile, we’re tracking sleep and glucose, counting protein, taking supplements, using red light, optimizing hormones, sitting in saunas and trying to lower our biological age.

I believe in taking care of yourself. But I think there’s one part of the longevity conversation that deserves more attention:

Peace.

Because you can have the best wellness routine in the world, but if you’re constantly overwhelmed, resentful, comparing yourself to everyone around you or living in a state of internal chaos… what exactly are we optimizing?

Maybe wellness also looks like:
• Letting things go.
• Resting without guilt.
• Laughing more.
• Being with people who make you feel good.
• Getting out of your head.
• Having moments when nobody needs anything from you.

This is a big part of why I believe so much in what we do.

Yes, massage, sauna, acupuncture and bodywork have physical benefits. But for an hour, you also get to put your phone away and someone is taking care of you.

That matters.

I don’t want wellness to be about convincing people they need one more thing to fix themselves. I want what we offer to help people feel better in the lives they already have and give them a place to come back to themselves when life gets loud.

Maybe longevity has become too focused on how many years we can add to our lives and not enough on what we want those years to feel like.

I don’t just want more years.

I want GOOD years and I want peace.

Maybe that’s the part of wellness we should be talking about more.

MEET NATASHA! Our newest team member, she brings years of experience and the BEST warm smile to Rooted Method. Get to know her a little...

TREATMENT STYLE + APPROACH: My approach to massage is highly customized, recognizing that every body, and every area of the body has different needs. I thoughtfully blend Swedish massage, deep tissue techniques, and trigger point therapy to create an individualized session based on each client’s goals, areas of tension, and comfort level.

My style is intentional, unhurried, and deeply relaxing, allowing the body and nervous system time to settle while focused techniques address areas that need more therapeutic attention. The result is a massage that feels both restorative and effective, helping clients release tension, slow down, and step away from the stress of everyday life.

PROFESSIONAL MOTIVATION: With a background in the medical field, I developed an interest in approaches to pain and discomfort that look beyond temporary symptom relief and consider the body as a whole. That curiosity led her to explore more natural, hands-on approaches to wellness, where I ultimately discovered a passion for massage therapy.

What continues to inspire me the most is seeing the difference thoughtful, individualized bodywork can make in how someone feels. The trust and gratitude of my clients motivate me every day and continues to deepen my passion for helping people feel better in their bodies.

MY IDEAL CLIENT: I especially enjoy working with clients whose bodies carry the demands of everyday life: professionals who spend long hours at a desk or on their feet, athletes and active individuals, busy moms who rarely make time for themselves, and anyone feeling the physical effects of stress and a fast-paced lifestyle. Whether the goal is to address persistent tension, support an active body, or simply have a much-needed “woosah” moment, I create a space for clients to slow down, reset, and leave feeling better than when they arrived.

WHAT MAKES YOUR SESSIONS UNIQUE: Known early in my career as having “lullaby hands,” I have a calming presence that often leaves clients surprised by just how deeply they relax.

5 Reasons Your Skin Needs Red Light Therapy This Fall

Because your summer glow deserves to stick around.
Fall is here, and while we love the cooler weather, our skin doesn’t always feel the same way.

As temperatures drop and the air gets drier, our skin starts losing moisture. Suddenly, we’re dealing with dullness, dryness, fine lines, and irritation. And we’re not just talking about your face. Yep, those crepey arms and legs, too.

Here’s why we love it, especially this time of year:

1. Bring Back That Healthy Glow
Summer may be over, but your glow doesn’t have to be. Red light therapy supports cellular activity and can help improve the appearance of dullness, uneven texture, and tired-looking skin. Our Celluma LED facial treatments give your skin a little extra attention without adding another complicated step to your routine.

2. Give Your Collagen Some Love
As we age, our bodies naturally produce less collagen. That’s when we start noticing changes in firmness, elasticity, and those little lines that weren’t there a few years ago.

Red and near-infrared light therapy can help stimulate collagen production, supporting smoother, firmer-looking skin over time. We’re all about aging well. Not pretending it isn’t happening.

3. Support Your Muscles, Too
LightStim technology can be incorporated into massage treatments, using specific wavelengths of light to support the body’s natural recovery processes. Light therapy may help with temporary relief of minor muscle and joint discomfort.

4. Your Sauna Session Just Got Better
Fall schedules are packed. Between work, school, sports, and everything else, finding time for yourself can feel impossible. Our private full-spectrum infrared saunas include red light therapy, so you can enjoy both during your session. Forty minutes to disconnect, relax, and do something good for yourself. We’ll take it.

5. Keep It Going at Home With Omnilux
Here’s the thing about skincare: Consistency matters. That’s why we carry Omnilux LED masks that use red and near-infrared light to support skin rejuvenation, with recommended sessions of just 10 minutes, three to five times a week.

When you call Rooted Method and say, “I’d like to book a massage,” and we proceed to ask you a series of questions… there’s a reason. 😂

Think of it like going to an incredible Italian restaurant and ordering an enchilada.

Can the chef probably make you one? Sure.

Will it be the best enchilada you’ve ever had? Probably not. Meanwhile, there’s a lasagna on that menu that chef has spent years absolutely perfecting.

Our Massage Therapists are no different. Every licensed massage therapist goes through the foundational training, and as they grow in their careers, they figure out what they’re really good at. They take advanced education and develop/refine techniques. They learn what they believe actually works, and eventually, they stop trying to do every modality and hone in on how they can create change.

One therapist may be phenomenal at deep, therapeutic work, another understands fascia like nobody’s business, while someone else shines with nervous-system work, stretching, sports recovery, prenatal, craniosacral, reflexology and/or relaxation.

That specificity isn’t a limitation. It’s experience.

So our job isn’t to convince every therapist to offer every type of massage. Our job is to build a team whose strengths collectively cover what our clients need, and then ask enough questions to put you on the right table.

Because we don’t want someone who can technically make the enchilada.
We want to book you with the person who absolutely nails the dish you came for.👩‍🍳

I don’t teach our providers how to do their jobs.

I intentionally attract incredibly talented, educated, experienced people who already know their craft.

My job is to lead them.

And one thing I have learned as a woman and a business owner is this:

Talent will never matter more to me than character.

You can be an exceptional medical provider, massage therapist, and an incredible esthetician. Your customer service skills may be top notch, and you may clean until surfaces shine. Brilliant at what you do. But skill without integrity isn’t enough.

The people who walk through our doors are trusting us with their bodies, their stories, their vulnerabilities and their wellness. I believe that kind of trust comes with a responsibility that extends far beyond providing a great service.

So at Rooted Method, I lead with principles and I expect the people who represent this business to share them.

We respect confidentiality.
We respect boundaries.
We own our mistakes.
We treat people well.

We speak about others with the same respect we would if they were standing beside us.

Because character isn’t something you turn on when a client walks through the door.

It’s who you are when no one is watching. And I believe we should all pay attention to that when deciding where we spend our money, who we trust not only with our wellness, but also which businesses we choose to support.

There are a lot of incredibly talented people in this world.

I want you to know that when you choose Rooted Method, you aren’t just choosing us because we’re good at what we do. You’re supporting a business that gives a damn about how we do it.

Ethics. Integrity. Discretion. Respect. Character.

I take that seriously above all else. Because talent is something I can attract easily. Character is something I refuse to compromise on.

Stay rooted, folks. 🤍

We believe you can feel a space before anyone says a word.
You can feel when you’re welcome.
You can feel when you’re safe.

You can feel when the people around you genuinely care about what they do—and about each other.

That matters to us.

At Rooted Method, we put a tremendous amount of intention into the energy of our space. Not just how it looks, smells or sounds—but how it feels to walk through our doors.

We want you to exhale.

We want you to feel safe enough to let your guard down. To trust the hands you’re in. To feel optimistic that you’ve found people who will listen, who know their craft, and who genuinely want you to feel better.

And protecting that feeling starts behind the scenes.

We talk about energy often as a team because we believe what happens between appointments matters just as much as what happens during them. Kindness matters. Professionalism matters. The way we speak to and about one another matters.

We protect our space from negativity because the people who come here deserve that.
You come to Rooted Method carrying enough from the outside world.
You shouldn’t have to carry ours, too.

Maybe that’s why Rooted Method feels a little different.
It’s supposed to.
Come as you are. Leave feeling lighter.

POV: you want to catch up with your friend…but you don’t want another dinner reservation and neither of you feels like drinking.

Normalize making the catch-up the thing that actually makes you feel better.

Book massages at the same time and then meet back up for a shared private sauna.

Put your phones away.
Actually decompress.
Then leave feeling better than when you came in.

No shouting over a crowded restaurant.
No $18 cocktails you didn’t really want.
No “why am I exhausted after our night out?”

Just:
“I have SO much to tell you.”
“I know. Same.”
“Meet me at Rooted.”

Virginia Beach ladies — consider this your sign to replace drinks soon? with Rooted soon?
Send this to the friend you’re overdue for a catch-up with. 🤍
