Happy Feast Day St. Padre Pio!

He bore the stigmata for 50 years, yet his most famous advice was the simplest: “Pray, hope, and don’t worry.”

St. Padre Pio (1887-1968) was a Capuchin friar and priest who heard confessions at San Giovanni Rotondo while crowds traveled from far away to see him. He died on this day in 1968 and was canonized in 2002.

Born in Italy in 1603, St. Joseph was a humble Franciscan friar who struggled with learning and was often misunderstood. Yet he had a deep love for Jesus and the Eucharist and became known for his extraordinary mystical experiences, including levitation during prayer and Mass. 🙏🏼

📚 Patron saint of students, especially those taking exams, he is a beautiful reminder that God doesn’t measure us by our grades, achievements, or abilities.

Holy Feast Day, Our Lady of Sorrows 🤍

Today, we honor Our Lady of Sorrows, the Mother who stood at the foot of the Cross and felt every wound as her own.

Devotion to Our Lady’s sorrows traces back to the 12th century, promoted by the Cistercians and Servites. In 1814, Pope Pius VII extended the feast to the whole Church and in 1913, Pope St. Pius X fixed it on September 15, right after the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

Seven swords pierced her heart. Seven sorrows she carried in silence. From Simeon’s prophecy to laying her Son in the tomb, Mary shows us that faith doesn’t mean the absence of grief, it means carrying it with grace.

When your own heart is heavy, bring it to her. She knows.

Today, the Church lifts high the Holy Cross—not as a symbol of defeat, but as the sign of Christ’s victory, love, and redemption. ✝️

📜 A little history: This feast dates back to the 4th century and commemorates the dedication of the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. Tradition also connects the feast with St. Helena and the discovery of the True Cross.

❤️ The Cross reminds us that God can bring hope from suffering, life from death, and victory from what seems like defeat.

Whatever cross you are carrying today, bring it to Jesus. His grace is enough.
