Yep…. It’s that time of the year to start reserving your holiday hair services!!!
Water is a chemical.
Citric acid is a chemical.
The compounds that make up plants, our hair and even our bodies are chemicals.
A long, scientific-looking word doesn’t automatically mean toxic, harsh or unsafe.
Cosmetic labels use standardized INCI ingredient names, which is why something derived from a plant may show up under a Latin name, and other ingredients appear under names that sound like they belong in a chemistry textbook.
What matters to me is what the ingredient is, why it’s there, how it’s being used and the choices made when formulating the product.
And one thing I appreciate about Davines is transparency.
They actually have an Ingredient Glossary on their website where you can search ingredients and learn more about what they are and why they’re used.
As a stylist and educator, I don’t want to teach people to be afraid of the word chemical.
I want us to understand the chemistry. 🧪🌱
“I can’t pronounce it” and “it’s bad for me” are two very different things
