Today we’re celebrating our wonderful Med Tech, Victoria! Since the very beginning, Victoria has been a dedicated, dependable, and valued member of our White Oak Village team. Her commitment to providing quality care to our residents and her reliability are truly appreciated.

Victoria, thank you for your hard work, dedication, and the important role you play in our community. We are grateful to have you on our team and wish you a beautiful birthday and a new year filled with happiness, blessings, and wonderful memories! ❤️

✨💜 Yesterday, Team White Oak Village Memory Care was proud to participate in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s in downtown Vancouver!

Our team was made up of White Oak staff, members of their families, resident family members, and one very special participant — our amazing resident, Irma! 💜 We couldn’t have asked for better weather, and it was incredibly moving to see so many people throughout our community come together in support of a cause that touches so many lives.

For us, this walk hits especially close to home. Every day, we have the privilege of caring for and building relationships with individuals living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. We see not only the challenges these diseases can bring, but also the personalities, stories, laughter, love, and meaningful moments that remain.

Today, an estimated 7.4 million Americans age 65 and older are living with Alzheimer’s, with millions more family members and friends providing care and support. The Alzheimer’s Association works to change that story by supporting individuals and families, providing education and resources, advocating for better care, and helping fund research toward improved treatments, prevention, and ultimately, a cure.

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s brings communities together to raise both awareness and critical funds for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research.

We are so grateful to everyone who walked alongside us, supported the event, and continues to advocate for those living with dementia and the families who love them. It was an honor for Team White Oak to be part of such a meaningful day.

Until there’s a cure, we walk. 💜

🍻🥨 Oktoberfest Fun at White Oak! 🇩🇪

Last week, we gathered for an evening full of good food, great music, laughter, and wonderful company as we celebrated Oktoberfest together!

🎶 We enjoyed live music from the talented Deni Herman, followed by a delicious dinner of German sausage and sauerkraut.

We also put our strength to the test with a stein-holding contest! 🍺💪 A big round of applause for our brave competitors who kept those steins held high! 👏

A special thank-you to Kirsten, daughter to our resident Betty, who generously shared her talents and brought even more fun to the evening with beautiful face painting! 🎨❤️

We’re so grateful to everyone who helped make the evening special and to all of our families, friends, residents, and team members who joined us. These are the moments that make our community feel like family. ❤️

☀️ Sunshine, Community & a Fresh Welcome! 🥕🌷

We recently learned that we’ll be welcoming a new resident to our White Oak family! After hearing about their love for fresh vegetables, a few of our residents and members of our THRIVE Welcome Committee decided to make their welcome a little more personal. ❤️

Today, we headed to the Downtown Vancouver Farmers Market with a special mission: build a fresh vegetable welcome basket for our newest neighbor! 🥬🥕🍅

We soaked up the beautiful sunshine, browsed the different booths, sampled some delicious local baked goods, and simply enjoyed being out together in our community. One of our residents even treated themselves to a beautiful bouquet of flowers! 💐

We were also lucky to have a few of our wonderful family members join us for the adventure. Thank you for sharing your time with us and making the day even more special!

We’re grateful for opportunities like these—to get out into our community, create meaningful experiences, welcome new neighbors, and simply share moments of joy together. It was a beautiful day with even better company. ❤️

If you want to be the best, you have to train like the best! 😎

Today, our Director of Sales, Larry, and Resident Engagement and Training Specialist, Enma, visited White Oak Village to lead our team through a powerful “Dementia Experience” training.

The experience was designed to give participants a glimpse into some of the challenges a person living with dementia may experience every day. Team members navigated vision impairment, unfiltered noise and light, simulated neuropathy, and the challenge of organizing and completing seven unique, multi-step tasks—all at the same time.

For our team, this wasn’t just about completing a training. It was about perspective.

When we better understand how overwhelming an environment, interaction, or seemingly simple task can become, we can approach our residents with greater patience, empathy, and compassion. That perspective helps us continue refining how we communicate, redirect, assist, and provide care each day.

A huge thank you to Larry and Enma for bringing this experience to White Oak and investing in our team. Excellence is intentional—and providing exquisite care means continually learning how to do it better. 💜

✨Making new friends! ✨

This afternoon we had the pleasure of welcoming Bella, a beautiful four-year-old silver Lab, and her owner, Brad, to White Oak Village! Bella and Brad are a registered therapy dog team through Alliance of Therapy Dogs, which connected us for today’s special visit.

Bella was such a sweetheart, gently greeting everyone and happily soaking up all the love and attention. Seeing the joy on everyone’s faces as they met Bella, gave her gentle pets, and shared sweet moments together was very heartwarming. She brought lots of smiles, comfort, and companionship to our community. ❤️

A big thank you to Brad and Bella for volunteering your time to visit with us. We truly enjoyed having you and look forward to see you again! 🐾

Karen is a soft-spoken sweetheart. She enjoys the simple things in life—sunshine, music, yummy foods, listening to books, and spending time in good company.
