❤️ 17 YEARS OF HAIR BY CIARA ❤️

I just want to take a moment to say THANK YOU to every single one of my clients. I am truly so grateful for each and every one of you. 🥹❤️

October 1st is such a special day for me because it marks 17 years of doing what I love. It honestly feels like yesterday.

I remember graduating high school and starting beauty school just a couple of days later. I had a goal from the very beginning: I wanted to finish beauty school in less than two years. And I DID IT! 🎓✂️

I was so excited and proud of myself when I graduated. I had learned so much, but I was ready to keep learning and growing.

I started working at an amazing salon in Washougal, where I spent six years learning as much as I possibly could. While I was there, I realized that I could eventually have a salon of my own. That dream pushed me even harder.

Eventually, I took a leap of faith and went out on my own. I was brave enough to start my own business, and that was one of the biggest steps I have ever taken.

Looking back now, I am so grateful I did. ❤️

It has been such a beautiful journey filled with growth, challenges, accomplishments, mistakes, lessons, tears, sweat, and SO much love.

When you’re self-employed, your clients become like your own little family. ❤️ And over 17 years, I have built a pretty big one.

There are different seasons in business — busy seasons, CHAOS seasons 😂, extremely busy seasons, and sometimes slower seasons. And that’s all part of owning a business.

There have been plenty of hiccups along the way. But I’ve learned that you have to keep pushing through those moments. You have to be willing to put yourself out there, even when it feels uncomfortable. You have to keep learning, keep adapting, set goals, and keep moving forward.

And then one day, you look back at everything you’ve been through and think:

WOW… I DID THIS. ❤️

I didn’t give up.

I kept pushing myself.
I kept learning.
I kept showing up.
I kept believing in myself.

And I am so proud of where I am today.

I truly LOVE doing hair, and I truly LOVE my clients. ✂️❤️

I have poured so much of myself into this business over the past 17 years. I’ve always tried to keep my prices affordable and realistic because I want my services to be accessible.

And one thing I have always promised myself is to be honest with my clients.

If something is achievable, I’ll tell you.
If something isn’t achievable, I’ll tell you that too.

I don’t want to simply take someone’s money and say yes to something I don’t believe I can accomplish. If I’m not comfortable or confident that something can be done safely or realistically, I will tell you upfront — even if that means turning down a service.

I’ve learned so much throughout these 17 years about what works for my business and what doesn’t.

And being self-employed isn’t just doing hair.

You’re doing your books.
You’re ordering supplies.
You’re answering messages.
You’re planning advertisements.
You’re creating promotions.
You’re talking with clients.
You’re managing appointments.
You’re constantly thinking about your business.

There isn’t always a 9-to-5 schedule.

Sometimes you’re working on vacation.
Sometimes you’re thinking about business while you’re driving.
Sometimes you’re lying in bed thinking about your next idea. 😂

That’s just part of owning your own business.

So if you’re thinking about becoming self-employed, my advice is:

Be motivated. Set goals. Push yourself. Keep learning. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. And when you get knocked down, get back up.

Because the hard seasons don’t last forever.

And when you look back and realize how far you’ve come, you’ll be able to say:

“I DID IT.” ❤️

I am so incredibly grateful for these 17 years of Hair by Ciara, and I am even more excited for all the years still ahead.
