Know your statutes!
These services along with treating the belly for expecting moms or scalp massage/treatment is out of scope for estheticians.
These are not new rules as these have never been in the statutes.
This is why it is extremely important to read your laws and know them vs. trusting what a friend, sales rep, instructor and etc tell you.
Knowing where your professional training and license apply is essential to protecting your clients and your business. When you are unsure whether a service falls within your scope, check with MSBCB before offering it.

We love seeing some of our estheticians stay proactive within their career by attending educational events hosted by another of our state’s associations.
Thank you to the Mississippi Cosmetology and Barbering Association for hosting such an empowering event.

Your license defines the services you can—and cannot—provide.
Remember:
• Barbers: No comedone extractions, waxing, manicures or epilation, except hair removal with tweezers. Depilation is permitted.
• Estheticians: No back facials, vagacial/vajacial services, lash lifts or head spa services.
• All licensees: Yoni steaming and buccal massage are not within the scope of any MSBCB license.
When in doubt, check your scope before providing the service.
