All jokes aside, what makes transformations like this easier is when the color is done professionally because it’s so much easier to lift out professional work than at-home color.

Only one layer of permanent to work through over the entire head and routine glosses so we were able to achieve an amazing lift for a first session.

This isn’t always realistic for an initial session but I’m so happy with where we got her this session!

Trust me, I’ve been there when you’ve rooted a client and it didn’t come out as blended as you wanted.

The placement is going to be the first thing you want to think about. I like to split the hair into two and work my way up horizontally. This will bridge the connection between the back and the side so they don’t look like they were foiled separately..

When you’re brushing is when it can all go south. I like to make sure I brush in almost like a C shape off the scalp. This will make sure my section doesn’t start to smash into the section below it, which is what creates root melt bleed lines.

For clients level 6 or lighter, I will marry my toner in with the root so it all blends together. For levels 5 or darker, I do process both separately so it doesn’t go too dark!
