Orange doesn’t always mean something went wrong 👀

This client had a full color history: blonde → red → black → back toward blonde.

When removing layers of artificial pigment, warmth is expected. Red, orange, and gold are often part of the process before cooler blonde tones are even possible.

Toner can neutralize warmth, but it cannot make hair lighter.
And sometimes the healthiest choice is to stop, protect the hair, and continue the journey another day.
Multiple sessions and preparing the canvas prior to a big color correction are okay to do! Don’t rush the process!🙌🏼

This is a very vulnerable post for me to share, but I’ve been wanting to open up about something I’ve dealt with for a long time🥹

I have plaque psoriasis from the neck up, my scalp, ears, and face. For a long time it’s been something I’ve tried to hide or just deal with quietly.

During a period of my life when I was under severe stress and carrying a lot of emotional trauma, my body was going through so much. Around that time, my psoriasis developed and became something I had to learn how to live with. While I know psoriasis can have many contributing factors, I truly believe stress played a huge role in triggering and worsening what was happening with my skin.

As a hairstylist, especially, sharing photos of my scalp feels incredibly vulnerable. But I also know that so many people deal with skin conditions, autoimmune conditions, hair loss, scalp concerns, or things that make them feel insecure🫶🏼 I hope seeing someone else be open about this can make you feel a little less alone, we are in this together🤞🏼

A month ago, I started a new medication for my psoriasis, and I’ve officially taken my second dose💚 I’m still very early in this journey, but I’m hopeful and excited to see what changes happen over the next few months.

I wanted to share these photos so you can follow along with me from the beginning. I plan on doing a 3 month update so we can see the progress together; the good, the frustrating, and everything in between.
These are only a few of the photos I’ve taken throughout this journey. Truthfully, I kept most of this hidden because I was embarrassed by how severe it had become and how much it affected my confidence.

This isn’t the easiest thing for me to put out there, but I want my page to be more than just pretty hair and finished results. I want you guys to know the person behind the chair too🫶🏼
