Why Coastal Grace Cottage?

After sharing my Major Moves announcement, I had a feeling someone might ask…

“But Sandie…why Coastal Grace Cottage?”

Well, there’s actually a little story behind it. 🩵

🌊 COASTAL

I’ve always been drawn to everything coastal—the colors, the water, the breeze, the feeling that somehow life gets just a little quieter when you’re near the ocean.

Why?

I’m honestly not entirely sure.

Maybe it’s because my Grandpa and Great Uncle served in the Navy. ⚓

Maybe it’s because my Mom was an absolute water baby who loved to swim—and growing up, it seemed like wherever we called home, a swimming pool wasn’t far behind. 💦

Or maybe it’s simply because being near the ocean has always given me a sense of peace and serenity that’s hard to describe.

There’s just something about water.

The sound.
The movement.
The vastness of it.

It reminds me to slow down, breathe deeply and appreciate the moment I’m standing in.

So Coastal felt like home before the house ever did.

🤍 GRACE

This one I know exactly.

Because when I look back at my life—the good chapters, the hard chapters, the unexpected detours, the doors that closed and the ones I never imagined would open—I know one thing with absolute certainty:

It is by the grace of God that I am where I am today.

Not because every road was easy.

Not because everything went according to plan.

But because through every season, He was there.

Grace carried me through.

And now, as I begin this incredible new chapter, I can’t imagine calling this home anything that doesn’t acknowledge the One who brought me here.

🏡 COTTAGE

Well…

Because it sounded good. 😂

Not every part of the story needs to be deep!

Coastal Grace Cottage just flowed.

It felt peaceful.
It felt welcoming.
It felt like me.

And most importantly…

It felt like home.

So that’s the story behind the name.

A little family history.
A lifelong love of water.
A whole lot of faith.
And apparently some very serious commitment to good word flow. 😂

🌊 Coastal — for the place that brings me peace.
🤍 Grace — for the God who brought me here.
🏡 Cottage — because, well…it just worked.

And downstairs?

That’s where an entirely different kind of tide will be rolling in. 🫧😉

The Lather Landing — the new home of Oily Escapades.

And yes…there’s a story behind that name, too.

But we’ll save that one for another day. 🩵

New address. New studio. Bigger dreams.

Well… the bubbles are officially moving. 🫧📦
After 40 years in Troy, Missouri, I’m closing one very meaningful chapter and opening the door to an entirely new one.

I am incredibly excited to announce that I am officially the new owner of…

And tucked into my new home will be something I’ve dreamed about for a very long time…

The new home of Oily Escapades.

This isn’t simply a change of address.

It’s a Major Move.

Over the years, Oily Escapades has grown from an idea, a little creativity and a whole lot of “let’s see if this works”… into a business I am incredibly proud of.

There have been markets and milestones.
New products and new opportunities.
Experiments, successes, lessons, late nights, laughter…and more than a few soap shenanigans along the way.

And somewhere in the middle of building the business, I was building myself, too.

We’ve come a long way—both personally and professionally.

Now it’s time to build again.

The Lather Landing at Coastal Grace Cottage will give Oily Escapades room to grow, create, expand and dream a little bigger.

A dedicated soap studio.
More organized production space.
Room for photography and content creation.
Market prep and product displays.
And plenty of space for whatever crazy, sudsy idea I come up with next. 😉

Forty years of memories are coming with me.

But so are some pretty big dreams.

So here’s to honoring where we’ve been, being grateful for how far we’ve come, and having the courage to make a few Major Moves when the next chapter comes calling.

Just hanging out…. Waiting…. Maybe celebrating…. More waiting….. but I’m trying to be patient! Meanwhile…. Let’s talk about the coffee…. If you haven’t tried Kentzo Koffee you are definitely missing out! And they have gift cards now… who knew! And the toast with goat cheese and fig- my absolute fave! Try it- you will not be disappointed! And yes this is my second cup of coffee- so I may be a little amped on caffeine- 🤣🤣🤣

👀 SOMETHING BIG IS MOVING…

I’ve been keeping a little something under wraps.

Okay…maybe not little. 😉

There have been plans.
There have been dreams.
There have been boxes. 📦
And there may have been a few moments of me asking myself…

“Am I really doing this?” 😂

The answer is officially YES.

After a lot of planning, a little courage, and perhaps one or two soap shenanigans along the way…

Oily Escapades is about to make a MAJOR MOVE. 🫧

And this one?

It’s about more than business.

It’s personal.
It’s exciting.
It’s a little bittersweet.
And it’s the beginning of a completely new chapter.
