Happy Herbalist Day! 🌱💚🐝

I'm working with the honey bees this morning, and I'm so grateful for a field of pesticide free dandelions.

These "weeds" are the first food source for the honey bees in spring.🌻 The whole plant, from flower to root, is edible for humans, too!

The leaves are used to stimulate the appetite and help digestion. Think of an herbal digestive bitter supplement. Many of these include dandelion, and when taken before a meal, they optimize digestion and reduce boating and gas. The yellow dandelion flower has antioxidant properties, while the roots act as a gentle kidney cleanse.

You can add the leaves and flowers to salads, pesto, sandwiches, and omelets. Dry the roots and roast them for a nutty, earthy flavored tea, or add them to your morning coffee brew.

Forage a patch of pesticide free dandelions this spring, but make sure to leave enough for the honey bees! 🍯 🐝
