Can an AI-generated hair photo be used as inspiration for my appointment?

Absolutely, but keep in mind that AI can create hair that doesn’t exist in the real world. Color, dimension, density, shine, texture, and even the way the hair falls can be generated without the limitations of real hair.

One of the biggest factors is your starting point. Previous color, box dye, damage, and hair integrity can affect a color result, while density, texture, face shape, cowlicks, and growth patterns can affect how a haircut or style will look on you. Even a beautiful updo may require more density than your natural hair provides.

Your stylist can still use an AI image to understand what you like and explain what’s realistically achievable, including the styling and products that may be needed to recreate and maintain the look at home. When using AI photos for inspiration, it’s important to have some flexibility and realistic expectations about how that inspiration translates to your own hair.

Think of an AI photo as inspiration rather than a guaranteed result.

Why do many salons require a deposit when booking an appointment?

Many salons require deposits because an appointment reserves a specific amount of a stylist’s time just for you. Longer services can block out several hours, and a late cancellation or no-show may leave the stylist with time that can’t be filled.

A deposit also creates a commitment from both sides: the salon reserves that time, and the client commits to the appointment. In most cases, including at Serenity Salon & Spa, the deposit is applied toward the scheduled service rather than being an additional charge.

Why don’t most salons and stylists give specific pricing online or over the phone?

Most hair services are customized because every client has a different starting point and desired result. Even something as straightforward as a haircut may have a starting price, with the final cost depending on factors like hair length, density, or the style and finish requested.

Color can be even more difficult to quote without seeing the hair in person. A consultation allows the stylist to see and feel the hair, learn about its history, understand the desired result, and determine the time and work needed. A good stylist should also consider the integrity of your hair before recommending a service or giving you an accurate price.
