Inner Harmony

Many of you know me as a meditation facilitator, which is great. But another very important hat I wear is fitness instructor. If I could scream this from every rooftop, I would. Please take a few seconds and watch and reconsider the importance of weight training in your lives. ❤️

I really am sorry. Because more than one generation has been fed the idea that women should stick to tiny pink weights and exist only as yogini’s and cardio bunnies. there is nothing inherently wrong with any of those things - unless they’re the only things your tissues have ever known. We can be very honest too that this stuff starts long before your 30’s. Long before peri or menopause. We build 40-60% of our adult bone mass as tweens and teens. It’s a whole generational disservice we do to girls and women when society collectively tells them strength doesn’t matter, isn’t for them, that they’ll get “bulky”, don’t belong in the weight room, or are constantly shown that they’re value is rooted in smallness. I love yoga to the core, and I can be real with you: it’s not enough. I love lifting, and I can be real with you: your nervous system will also crave space & softness. So I’m gonna be real with you: YOU NEED BOTH. Strength. Stability. Proprioception. Brain Body Novelty. Mobility. Move-ability. Sure, it sounds like a lot. But is it more work than the Special K diet was in the 90’s? I promise you, it’s not 😂 if you grew up in the era of Shape magazines and crunch Pilates DVDs - I know you know. If you were a part of the Yoga scene in the early 2000’s - I know you know. So, now you get to finally know more. and you get to go get in the gym with your daughters, and mothers, and grandmothers too please.
