Nobody at the gas station has ever apologized for raising their prices.

No post explaining how hard the decision was. No offer to honor old pricing for the loyal customers who have been filling up there for years. The number on the sign changed and everybody kept driving.

Now think about what has happened in your business since the last time you touched your price list. Adhesive costs more. Supply costs doubled. Rent went up at renewal. Your card processor quietly raised its percentage. Booking software added a tier. Liability insurance climbed. The classes you took to get better at this cost real money. And your work is not what it was in 2023, it is significantly better!!

The only number that stayed frozen is yours.

Here is what took me too long to understand. Profit is not the money sitting in the account after everyone else has been paid. That is just whatever survived. Profit is the number you decide on first and then build the price around, the same way every other business you spend money at does it.

Sit down this week and actually run it. Product cost per set, your time at an hourly rate you would accept from anyone else, your share of rent and overhead for those hours. Whatever that total is, that is your floor, not your price.

If the number that comes out scares you, that is not a reason to skip the math. That is the reason to do it.
