Whether you have platinum blonde, brunette, black, red, or even blue hair, color treated hair needs a little extra attention if you’re wanting your color to last long. Here are some helpful tips:
1. After coloring, wait a full 72 hrs before shampooing. When you wash your hair too soon after your appointment, the cuticle layer could still be open which then leads to your color being washed down the drain.
2. Use sulfate- free free shampoo and conditioner preferably one specifically for color treated hair recommended by your stylist.
3. Use a color depositing or toning conditioner to help maintain your vibrant color or to cancel out any unwanted tones.
4. Turn down water temperature when shampooing... the cooler the water the better.
5. Wash your hair less often.. Try washing your hair at least every other day or even 2-3 times a week.
6. On off days, use dry shampoo.
7. Use leave-in treatments to protect hair color when styling.
8. Use heat protectant spray before using hot tools.
9. Avoid chlorine- Chlorine is a chemical bleaching agent that cleans pools and will definitely strip color from your hair. If you are a swimmer, right before getting in the pool wet your hair and coat it with conditioner (don’t rinse out). That will help create a barrier so less chlorine penetrates the hair shaft.
10. Keep up with trims- Dead ends won’t hold color and will fade even faster.

It’s sad that they are growing up but I really do love the ages of each of them right now and the relationship I have with each of them. I am one lucky momma.
