✨ One day you decide to choose yourself. The next day you make that same decision, and before you know it, showing up for yourself becomes a habit.

This is what happens when you choose yourself again and again, even on the days it feels hard.

Not perfection.
Not overnight.
Just progress, resilience, and the decision to keep going. 🤍

Before I ever understood my body . . .

I learned how to judge it.
I learned how to pick it apart.
I learned how to look for anything I could even slightly identify as a flaw.

I grew up in the 90’s when he**in chic was the aesthetic and “plus size” wasn’t even part of the conversation yet so it makes sense I learned to hate my body from such a young age.

Unlearning it?
That’s taking a lot longer than I would like to admit, but I’m not giving up because my inner child deserves an adult willing to do the work for her. I’m still working on my mindset and my self talk, but I know I’ll get there eventually.

This isn’t about shrinking.It’s about rewriting ✍️.

One of my earliest memories is of my mom taking diet supplements and trying to lose weight. Two of her go to sayings while I was growing up were, “You are what you eat” and “A second on the lips, a lifetime on the hips.”

But if we’re being really honest, this didn’t start with my mom. It didn’t start with her mom and it didn’t even start with her mom’s mom. For as long as women have been breathing, we have been taught to be small, quiet, agreeable, low-maintenance, low-appetite, low-needs.

That stops 🙅🏻‍♀️ with me.

I’m choosing different.
I’m choosing strength 💪🏻.I’m choosing nourishment.I’m choosing mental health 🧠.I’m choosing muscle over shame.I’m choosing to take up space, physically and emotionally.

I know I’m the first woman in my bloodline to do that and while it’s absolutely terrifying, there’s also a sense of pride that comes with it. To know that you could be the linchpin that changes what loving yourself looks like for your entire bloodline.

And if you are too? You’re not “too much.”You’re the cycle breaker.
And cycle breaker to cycle breaker, I’m proud of you 🫂.
