Retail isn’t dead….but it is different, and we have to accept it.

As a chronic over-foiler, I’m learning to embrace “less is more” when it comes to creating bright blonde pops. This transformation was achieved with just 13 foils in the back, 7 foils on each side around the front hairline for a soft money piece, and 4 foils on each side of her part.

Stylists, I know how hard it can be charging higher prices for haircuts in a world that often tells us haircuts should be the same $30 they were in 2006….but it’s not 2006 anymore.

I see it all the time, potential clients posting on fb asking why they can’t find a good haircut & blowout for under $50!

I hope this video gives you a little perspective.

When I first started doing hair I was only taught the “Mohawk.” We sliced everything and weaved the hairline and crown.

Then we evolved and I was taught horizontal placement but only with weaves so we didn’t create walls of light.

Now, we understand that you can combine and and all of those placements but you have to understand why.

I love a sliced Mohawk…but only on lighter bases and full foils. Dark bases + a partial results in black/white stripes.

I also love sliced horizontal placement…but you have to understand that a wall of blonde is HIGH MAINTENANCE! Nearly as high as a platinum card unless you’re root melting.

So what’s the best in between you ask? Diagonal slices + weaved hairline. Blended, medium coverage withought the stripes, & less maintenance than horizontal.
