Teach your children that other people are human beings with dignity, boundaries, and the right to feel safe. That nobody owes them access to their body. That consent must be freely given, and someone too incapacitated to consent cannot give it. That another person’s vulnerability is a reason to protect them.

Raise children who will interrupt cruelty, challenge their friends, and get help when someone is in danger. Teach them that fitting in is never worth someone else’s suffering.

I want my daughter to be safe. I want my son to help make the world safe. Both deserve to grow up knowing that respect is the bare minimum.

Our responsibility is bigger than raising successful children. We have to raise people whose character holds when nobody is watching—and whose courage holds when everyone is.
