I don’t think people talk enough about the anger that comes with grief.

I’m angry that you’re gone. I’m angry that time didn’t stop when I lost you. I’m angry that everyone else’s lives kept moving while mine felt like it shattered into pieces.

I’m angry over all the moments you should still be here for. The conversations we should still be having. The laughs, the questions, the little things I never thought I’d have to live without.

And most of all, I’m angry that loving someone this much doesn’t give you the power to keep them here.

Some days I can find a little peace in knowing you’re together again. Other days, that doesn’t make the emptiness hurt any less.

I miss you both in ways I don’t even know how to put into words. And maybe I’ll never completely make peace with the fact that a piece of my heart went with you.

I just know I’ll carry that piece of you with me for the rest of my life.
