Licensed educator Dr. Vallen Cordon, CEO and designer, began making button earrings and earrings made with recycled cardboard in her spare time. She posted pics on her personal page and friends began expressing interest in purchasing them. After taking a 9 month hiatus in the Fall of 2014 to complete her doctoral dissertation, she resumed making jewelry in June 2015 and opened her online shop on Etsy. She was featured as one of 15 Successful African American Entrepreneurs on Etsy by Small Business Trends in April 2016. states! Major things happened for Dr. Val in 2020! Another rebranding took place, where DFY Creative became known under the umbrella name, The DFYant Brand. In addition to having her earcandy worn by THE Tabitha Brown, Dr. Val collaborated with some amazing women in business! She also stated a new journey in the world of Permanent Makeup, becoming certified and licensed in permanent makeup and paramedical tattooing. The DFYant Brand now offers this service under the name “Dr. Val, The PMU Surgeon”, and a full menu of PMU services are now offered.
