There was a time when I had to turn clients away because I knew something wasn't right—but I didn't yet have the knowledge to explain why.

That never sat well with me.

Seeing more and more women experience hair loss made me realize I didn't just want to create beautiful hairstyles. I wanted to be part of the solution.

That's what led me to train with THE STRAND NETWORK, where I learned how to recognize the signs of different types of hair loss, identify common scalp conditions and infections, and better understand ingredients and practices that may be contributing to hair loss.

Now, when a client sits in my chair, I'm not just looking at the hairstyle they want. I'm paying attention to what their hair and scalp may be trying to tell me.

Healthy hair starts with understanding the cause.

My goal is to educate, guide, and help my clients make informed decisions about their hair journey. And if something is outside my scope, I'll always direct them to a board-certified dermatologist who specialize in hair loss.

Have you ever been told your hair loss was "normal," but felt like something else was going on? I'd love to hear your experience below. 🌱

Not all breakage comes from heat or chemicals. Sometimes, it's the LITTLE things we do every day.

During this consultation, my client shared that she stopped doubling her elastic band because she noticed it was too tight and causing breakage. She was absolutely right.

That type of damage is called mechanical damage —damage caused by friction and repeated tension on the hair strands.

An elastic band that's too tight can weaken the hair strands over time, especially if it's worn in the same spot every day or slept in overnight. While it may seem like a small habit, those small habits add up.

Instead, I recommend using a silk or satin scrunchie whenever possible. It's gentler on the hair, helps reduce friction, and can make a difference in protecting your strands over time.

Healthy hair isn't just about the products you use—it's also about the daily HABITS you practice. 🌱

Have you ever noticed breakage where you usually wear your ponytail? Let me know in the comments. 👇

Hello 👋🏾 to my new followers and future clients!

I thought this would be the perfect time to introduce myself and the heart behind my brand.

I've been doing hair for eight years, but my journey started long before that. Growing up in the projects of Canarsie, Brooklyn, I was known as the neighborhood braider. Doing hair wasn't a business back then—it was simply something I loved.

After moving to Staten Island, I actually lost my passion for doing hair. That all changed after I had a traumatic experience with a stylist that left me with non-scarring traction alopecia. I was devastated. I was finally beginning to feel confident wearing my natural hair, and suddenly I was dealing with hair loss.

Instead of giving up, I decided to take my hair into my own hands. Since I already knew how to braid, I started learning crochet styles. Once I mastered those, I challenged myself to learn more intricate techniques. I took classes whenever I needed to improve my skills, but one thing never changed—I always cared about the health of the hair underneath every style.

After the pandemic, more and more women were coming to me with hair loss, scalp concerns, and a complicated relationship with their natural hair. Many felt they had to hide their hair instead of understanding it. Others believed their hair would be more beautiful or more manageable if they had a different curl pattern. That broke my heart.

I realized the issue wasn't just unhealthy hair—it was the way so many women viewed their own hair.

That's what led me to become a licensed natural hair stylist and to continue investing in advanced education focused on healthy hair, scalp care, textured hair, and helping my clients understand the "why" behind what I recommend.

Stepping away from social media also helped shape my business. That time allowed me to stop chasing trends and focus on what was important: learning how to properly care for hair so I could confidently educate my clients.

If you're looking for healthier hair, a healthier scalp, or simply someone who will care about your hair as much as you do, welcome. I'm so happy you're here, and I can't wait to be part of your healthy hair journey. 🤎🌿

Every healthy hair journey starts when I have a clear understanding of your current routine. 🌱

Before I recommend products, treatments, or styles, I ask questions to learn how you're caring for your hair at home.

One of the biggest reminders I give my clients is this: Don't apply products on unclean hair. Healthy hair starts with a clean scalp and clean hair. I encourage clients to maintain regular cleansing even when their hair is in a protective style.

My goal is to help every client build a routine they can confidently maintain between appointments because healthy hair doesn't just happen in the salon—it continues at home. 💛

So many of us grew up questioning whether our hair was "good" or beautiful because it didn't look like someone else's.

That's why moments like this matter so much to me.

I want every person who sits in my chair to know that beauty isn't determined by curl pattern, texture, or length. Whether your hair is tightly coiled, curly, wiry, or somewhere in between, your hair is beautiful.

Healthy hair is what makes it beautiful.

As a healthy hair professional, my goal is to educate, encourage, and help you care for the hair that naturally belongs to you—not change it into something it's not. 🌱🤎

If no one has ever told you this before, let this be your reminder: Your hair is beautiful.

What's one thing you've had to unlearn about your natural hair? I'd love to hear your story in the comments. 🤎

Should you oil your scalp?

One of the biggest myths I used to believe was that everyone needed to oil their scalp. After receiving advanced education with board-certified dermatologists who specialize in hair loss, I learned that's not necessarily true.

A healthy scalp is designed to produce its own natural oil, called sebum. If the scalp is healthy and functioning normally, adding more oil to the scalp isn't always necessary.

What oil is great for is helping to seal moisture into the hair shaft. After cleansing and hydrating the hair, applying a small amount of oil to the hair strands can help reduce moisture loss and improve softness and manageability. The key is applying it to CLEAN, hydrated hair—not relying on oil to moisturize dry hair or replace proper scalp care.

For me, healthy hair starts with a healthy scalp, and healthy scalp care starts with understanding what the scalp actually needs—not simply following traditions or trends.
