AHA vs. BHA…because skincare already has enough damn acronyms. 😂🧪
Both are chemical exfoliants, but they don’t work exactly the same way.
✨ AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) are water-soluble and work primarily on the skin’s surface. Think dullness, uneven texture, discoloration and fine lines. Glycolic and lactic acid are common AHAs.
✨ BHAs (Beta Hydroxy Acids) are oil-soluble, which allows them to work within oily pores. Think congestion, blackheads, excess oil and breakout-prone skin. Salicylic acid is the BHA you’ll see most often.
So…which one is better?
Neither. 👀
The better question is: Which one makes sense for YOUR skin?
More exfoliation isn’t always better, and combining every acid in your bathroom definitely isn’t a shortcut to perfect skin. Your skin type, current routine, sensitivity and goals all matter.
