I love this, and it was worth the share!

I think one of the hardest parts of being a hairstylist that nobody really prepares you for is when a longtime client just disappears. And before anyone misunderstands this, I know we don’t own our clients. You’re allowed to go somewhere else. You’re allowed to change your mind, your budget, your routine, or simply want something different. That’s part of this industry. But when you’ve spent YEARS with someone, when you’ve talked about life, shared stories, celebrated milestones, and built a relationship that goes beyond their hair appointment, it’s hard not to wonder what happened when they suddenly stop coming. Did I do something? Did I say something? Was my work not good enough? Did I miss a sign? It’s the unknown that gets you. Because sometimes, it’s not even about losing the appointment. It’s about losing a relationship you genuinely valued, without ever knowing why. And I think a lot of stylists quietly carry that feeling while trying not to take it personally. We’re human, too. We care about our work, but we also care about the people who sit in our chairs. Not every client is meant to stay forever, and that’s okay. I just think we sometimes underestimate how much a little communication can mean. If you’ve ever experienced this, you’re definitely not alone. 🤍
