Keith's Barber Shop

Mom shares chaos of bringing triplets, 4-year-old to jury duty Torrey Scow couldn't get a babysitter, so she took her kids to court with her.

It is with mixed emotions that I write this post. Keith's Barber Shop has been in my family for 70 plus years. I guess I always thought it would be a major part of the Shepherdsville Downtown. Sometimes, though, life has different plans. 8 years ago, I lost my dad. At that point, we were having trouble finding and keeping barbers. I was determined the shop would stay open. Fast forward 3 years, my husband had a massive stroke. I had barbers coming in part time to keep the shop open until perhaps he could return to the business. After a year, it was obvious he would not be able to do so. At a family member's funeral, Robby mentioned he would love to barber somewhere part-time. He started back at the shop and was barbering at his dad's chair. He said he loved barbering and he would work as much as his health would allow. I never wanted to have to close the business. I knew how hard it would be and how upsetting to mom. I lost mom almost 2 years ago. I did not want to make an major decisions for a year. We lost Robby this year and the decision was pretty much made for me. A business can't thrive even if part-time people want to be there. The building was sold yesterday. The buyer is kind enough to allow the barbers to phase out but all items will be removed by July 31st. A million thanks for all of the love and support through the years. Words could never express how humbled and grateful I am for how wonderful Bullitt County has been to Keith's Barber Shop. I am putting together barber shop history and pictures and if anyone has any information, stories, or pictures you would be willing to share, I would be so appreciative. I never thought I would drive down Buckman and not see the red, white and blue awning or the Coca Cola Keith's Barber Shop sign. But, time marches on. I feel fortunate and blessed that the buyer is invested in Bullitt County and look forward to seeing what great things are planned for this historic building. Once again, thank you.

Many questions have come up about the barbershop. This is an end of an era for our family. In the short term, Amy is continuing to barber on Friday and Saturday.

It is with great sadness that we post this. Asking for prayers for his wife, children, grandchildren, sisters and all family and friends. Robby was so happy to be barbering behind his dad’s chair. This is a end of an era for the shop.
