What might seem like a small milestone to some is something I once only dreamed of. 💕✨
I’ll now officially be carrying Dollylocks Organic Products on my website, with products in stock and available for purchase!
I’m so incredibly grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given, the relationship I’ve built with Dollylocks, and how much my little business has grown over the years.
It’s so easy to get caught up in the day-to-day chaos of running a business and forget to celebrate the wins along the way.
Today, I’m celebrating one of those wins, and I couldn’t be more grateful. 🦋💕
Let’s talk about the maturing phase of synthetic dreadlock extensions! 🤎🦋
While synthetic dreadlocks may not mature in the exact same way natural dreadlocks do, they absolutely go through a very similar process. The fibers continue to entangle, compact, and lock into place over time.
Just because the process isn’t technically identical doesn’t mean it isn’t happening! Whether you want to call it maturing, settling, or locking, the process is real. Let’s not get so caught up in terminology that we overlook what’s actually happening to the hair. 🤎

A little update 💗
We’re currently working on hiring additional dreadlock artists, as well as someone to help me with customer service!
Emails and messages have been flooded lately, and I’m doing my best to keep up while also working on orders. I promise we have your message and no one is being ignored!
Please avoid sending multiple emails/messages about the same thing, as it can cause confusion. I will get back to everyone — it’s just taking a little longer than usual right now.
Thank you so much for your patience while we work on growing our team! 💗
The Velcro phase is NORMAL! 🙌
As your dreadlock extensions start to mature, you may notice them wanting to stick to each other a little more. Free Range Dreadlocks tend to do this a bit more than Standards, but all dreadlocks go through a Velcro phase as they mature.
The biggest thing is to simply stay on top of separating them! In this video, I’m separating mine and pulling away any loose hairs that have naturally shed along the way — shedding is completely normal too.
A little maintenance goes a long way while your dreads are settling in and maturing. 🤎🦋
Wash day with dreadlock extensions 🫧🩷
One of the questions I get asked ALL the time is, “How do you wash your hair with dreadlock extensions in?” And the answer is way simpler than people think — you wash it just like you normally would! Don’t overthink it. 🙌🏼
Today I tried the new Dollylocks Dry Scalp Remedy Shampoo for the first time, and I’ve been SO excited about this one. It’s perfect for dry, flaky scalps and those dealing with dandruff or eczema — which is especially exciting for me because my scalp tends to get dry and flaky when I’m wearing my extensions if I don’t stay on top of my scalp care.
And can we talk about the artwork on the bottle?! Grace Galuski absolutely killed it. 😍 It’s seriously so beautiful.
Finished off wash day with my Dollylocks Microfiber Dreadlock Towel and Refreshening Spray, and we’re good to go. ✨
Dreadlock wash day really doesn’t have to be complicated. 🩷
And as always, you can use code HCD10 to save 10% on your Dollylocks goodies! 🦋
Our monthly giveaway winner is… Brittany! 🦋💗
Every month, I give away $100 in HCD store credit as a little thank you to my amazing customers for continuing to support my small business. 🥹
And I’m SO excited about this month’s winner! Brittany recently received her very first HCD order and is already in love, so it makes me extra happy that her name was pulled this month. 🥰
Congratulations, Brittany!! I can’t wait to see what you pick with your $100 store credit! 💗
And don’t forget — a new month means a new chance to enter! Make sure you’re sending in your photos, tagging HCD in your posts, and leaving us a Google review if you haven’t already. 🦋
Apparently it’s time for a little dreadlock lesson. 😂
No, my hair doesn’t stink. No, my synthetic dreadlock extensions aren’t growing mold. Yes, I wash my hair. And no, wearing dreadlocks does not automatically make someone dirty, gross, or unhygienic.
Synthetic braided-in dreadlock extensions are incredibly breathable and don’t behave the same way as mature natural locs. And while natural locs can develop mold if they repeatedly stay damp inside, proper washing AND thorough drying are exactly how you prevent that.
It’s 2026. Maybe we can finally retire the idea that dreadlocks = dirty hair. 😭
And while we’re at it… no, wearing dreadlocks does not automatically make me a hippie either. 😂
The more you know. ✨
