That shadow above your lip isn’t something you just have to live with. The melasma moustache is one of the most stubborn forms of pigmentation we treat and the reason it’s so stubborn is because it’s not a surface issue.
Melasma lives in the deeper layers of the skin, driven by hormones, UV exposure, and heat. That’s why over-the-counter brightening products often feel like they do nothing, because they’re not reaching the root of the problem.
The right treatment approach can make a significant difference. But it has to be the right approach for your skin, your triggers, and your lifestyle, because what works for one person’s melasma won’t necessarily work for another’s.
This is exactly why a personalized consultation is so important before jumping into any treatment. My clients who come to me frustrated after trying everything on their own are often the ones who see the most dramatic results, because for the first time, they’re getting a plan that’s actually built for their skin.
If melasma is something you’ve been self-conscious about, let’s talk.

Skincare awareness isn’t a hashtag. It’s a practice.
It’s choosing to understand your skin instead of guessing. It’s asking real questions and getting honest answers. It’s building a routine that actually makes sense for your life, your skin type, and your goals.
That’s what I’m here for. Not to sell you on a trend or push a one-size-fits-all approach. I want you to feel supported, informed, and confident in how you care for your skin every single day.
If you’ve been wanting guidance that’s actually personalized, a consultation is the best place to start. It’s where I get to learn about your skin, answer your questions, and help you build a plan that works.
Book a consultation and let’s talk about what your skin actually needs. I’m here to help, not to judge.

There’s nothing like a warm breeze of summer on your face.
The good news? You don’t have to choose between enjoying it and protecting your skin.
A few simple habits make all the difference: apply SPF 30+ daily (reapplying every 2 hours outdoors), seek shade during peak UV hours (10am-4pm), and wear a hat, upf clothing and sunglasses when you can. These small steps protect against UV-induced damage, premature aging, and yes, sunburn, without keeping you from enjoying the season.
Sunshine is good for the soul. Just make sure your skin is protected while you soak it in.

July is Skincare Awareness Month.
AND if there is one thing I want you to take away from that, it is this: working with an esthetician is not about vanity. It is about having someone in your corner who genuinely understands skin, how it changes, and what it needs at every stage.
A great aesthetician is your guide. Someone who stays up to date on the science, who listens to your concerns without judgment, and who builds every single treatment around what your skin is actually doing right now. Not what worked six months or years ago. Not what a trending product promises. What is real and relevant to you today.
That kind of support matters. It is the difference between guessing and knowing. Between a vanity shelf full of maybes and a routine that actually makes sense for your life.
Save this post if it resonates. Take a moment to think about what your skin actually needs right now, not what social media says it should need. And if you are ready to stop guessing and start building a plan that is truly yours, book a consultation. I would love to sit down with you, talk through your goals, and create something that fits your skin, your schedule, and your life.

This entire typeface is made out of sunscreen because honestly, SPF deserves the spotlight. ☀️🧴
Reapply often. Sunscreen is self care. However we say it, the message stays the same, protecting your skin is the most important step in any routine, and it works even better paired with treatments that support your skin barrier from every angle.
If your sun protection (or skincare routine in general) needs an upgrade, let’s talk. Book your appointment today and let’s keep that glow protected all season long. 📅🌞

Some of them are obvious. Others are sneaky. Here’s what to look for:
→ Dehydration disguised as oiliness (your skin is overproducing because it’s thirsty, not because it’s oily)
→ Jawline congestion that keeps cycling back no matter what you try
→ Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation lingering long after breakouts have cleared
→ Over-exfoliated, reactive skin from too many actives without enough support
→ Dullness and texture that no amount of moisturizer seems to fix
→ Early sun damage showing up as uneven tone and fine lines you didn’t have last year
If one of these felt a little too familiar, save this post and come back to it.
Then book a consultation so we can look at what’s actually going on, build a plan around your skin and your lifestyle, and get you on a path that makes sense for where you are right now. No guesswork, no one-size-fits-all protocols. Just a clear starting point tailored to you.

Even this text is wearing sunscreen. ☀️ Every letter you see here is hand-illustrated to look like it came out of your fav SPF tube/bottle, because if there’s one thing I want you to remember, it’s that sun protection matters.
SPF isn’t a one-and-done step. UV damage builds up daily, even on cloudy days or when you’re mostly indoors near windows. Reapplying every 2 hours during sun exposure helps maintain your skin’s protective barrier and prevents the cellular damage that leads to premature aging, dark spots, and burns.
Protecting your skin today is the easiest way to keep it healthy, even-toned, and resilient for years to come. 🧴✨

Your SPF might be blocking UVA and UVB... but what about visible light?
Here’s what most people don’t realize: visible light (the kind from the sun you can actually see) penetrates deeper than UV and triggers pigmentation, especially in melanin-rich skin tones. If you’re dealing with dark spots, melasma, or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, this matters.
That’s where tinted SPF comes in. The iron oxides in tinted sunscreens are what actually block visible light. A clear or untinted formula, no matter how high the SPF, won’t protect against this.
Quick breakdown:
☀️ UV rays = traditional SPF handles this
💡 Visible light = only iron oxides (tint) block this
🧑🦱 Melanin-rich skin = more reactive to visible light
If you’ve been consistent with SPF but your dark spots aren’t fading, your sunscreen might be the missing piece.
It’s worth rethinking your routine, not just the number on the bottle, but what’s actually inside it. Choose protection that works with your skin goals, not against them. If you’re not sure where to start or which tinted SPF is right for your skin type, we’d love to help. Come see us in Seattle, at Fine Line for a personalized recommendation.
