Waxing Moon Spa

Last weekend was an adventure indeed! 🏕️

My annual trip with my dad was thwarted once again, this time by fires, so he had to cancel. Thankfully, my friend was coming this year, so I could still go!

We camped in the Columbia River Gorge on the Washington side of the river. Even with the smoke, it was absolutely beautiful. I really liked our little campground with the creek—especially once the noisy kids across the way left after the first night. 😅

We played some disc golf, but the real highlight was hiking Little Huckleberry Mountain. And when I say “highlight,” I mean it was 2.5 miles of almost straight-up misery. 😂

But really, aren’t all the best hikes going to have parts you hate? 😬

My friend realized my mood had shifted and that I needed some space for the last 20 minutes to get my ass up that mountain. I cried. 🙈 I cursed. 🤬 I nearly gave up.

But! ☝🏾 I MADE IT. 💪🏾

It took me a minute to chill out once I reached the top, but eventually I was able to appreciate the AMAZING views—Mount Adams and St. Helens to the north and Mount Hood to the south. Thankfully, the smoke had cleared for the most part, although you could still see a huge billowing cloud of smoke surrounding Hood.

On the way down, we ate wild berries 🫐🍓 and stopped to enjoy the wildflowers. 🌼🌸

Camp food highlight: finally trying a strawberry s’more! 🍓🔥

And, of course, laughing at my friend because once again, his dog had destroyed his bedding. 🤦🏽‍♀️😂

All in all, a lovely trip. ❤️

Just a heads-up that Waxing Moon Spa will be closed August 7–10 while I escape to the woods for a few days to recharge. 🌲✨

It took me so long to post this but June is chaos with work and Pride and a girl only has so much time! And when it comes to Willis, who means so much to me, I've always got a lot to say😊

I was so grateful to share it again with my fellow fanatic of hip hop, my concert plus one Rachel Chapin She gets so hyped and it's exactly the energy I love going with🫶🏽 Also got to say hi to my friends from Moore Than Rocks 💜 I love that they're fans too!

I was coming out of the bathroom when opener Big Boi started with one of me and brother's songs "Rosa Parks" I rushed back and knew I wouldn't make it to my seat before the song ended so I soaked it up from the edge.

Then Cudi came out and Rachel was already out of her seat😆 I knew I'd be on my feet eventually but was happy to have a seat(I'm old🤭).

He surprised me playing "Confused!" a favorite I wasn't expecting! It reminds me of how I felt while still drinking. And how happy I am to not be in that place.

The one that got me on my feet along with EVERYBODY else was "Mr. Rager" 🤘🏽 Vibe was electric!

My friend had her break when he played "Love", the one that reminds me of my brother and the same one that had me bursting in tears the last time I saw him, this time was no different 🥹 Rachel said she rushed back knowing how this song got to me and wanted to support me🥰 she got there just after it ended😆🫶🏽 My neighbors were definitely sneaking peeks at my crying ass🙈

I raged, I danced, and I sang my freaking heart out🤘🏽😀🤘🏽💜✨️ What a beautiful night🌙

Happy belated 4th of July!

I got to spend it with my mom Doreen Steffen Oakes and cousin Zoe Steffen, hiking on mom's property, making and eating too much food, and some good girl talk while watching the sunset and the distant fireworks over the valley of Spokane.

In the second photo, we caught a very special moment. My mom associates butterflies with my brother and so now, so do I! I was taking a pic of them when a butterfly swooped in between us right as I snapped the photo. We felt my brother was dropping in to say hello🥹 I admit I teared up! Very special! 🦋💜🦋🫶🏽

Another Pride in the books! 🌈✨

I've been making my way to Seattle Pride for years now, and it's become one of my favorite traditions. Yesterday was everything—dancing my ass off with my friend Wendy, soaking up all the amazing energy, people-watching at its finest... and can someone explain the sudden explosion of dog masks? I swear they were everywhere this year. 😂🐶

My feet are tired, my voice is a little rough, and my heart is full. Already looking forward to next year. ❤️🏳️‍🌈
