If your idea of treating sun damage involves a lot of heat and the feeling of tiny rubber bands snapping against your face... I have good news.
This is our Motus IPL laser using the 755nm Alexandrite wavelength, and it does pigment a little differently.
755nm is highly absorbed by melanin, which makes it particularly good at finding unwanted brown pigment in the skin. Think sun spots, freckles and some of the evidence an Arizona summer leaves behind.
But one of my favorite things about Motus is HOW it delivers that energy.
Instead of repeatedly stamping the skin with high-energy pulses, Motus uses Moveo technology. The sapphire tip stays in contact with the skin while we continuously move the handpiece back and forth over the skin, delivering energy gradually through multiple passes.
Translation: the pigment is still getting the memo. Your face just doesn’t have to feel like it’s being attacked by tiny, burning rubber bands in the process.
The contact sapphire tip also helps minimize energy lost at the surface of the skin, while the lower fluence, in-motion delivery progressively heats the target rather than hitting it with one intense burst.
So yes, it’s a laser.

Treating this many areas for the time time can sound pretty scary. Especially if your frame of reference for filler is faces where you can tell there’s filler.
But that’s kind of the point: you’re noticing filler that looks like filler. You’re probably not noticing a very large category of people walking around with injectables who look totally normal.
It might sound counterintuitive, but we actually don’t want people to notice you’ve had anything done. Not because it’s actually unnoticeable change, but because the change is so natural looking across your whole face that there isn’t a singular change to pinpoint.
We don’t want anyone looking at your face and saying, “wow, that’s filler.” we just want them to think you look really great.

Something I hear all the time is, “I have this line here... can you just fill it?”
Sometimes I can.
But more often than not, that crease is just the symptom of something else that’s changed.
As we age, the ligaments that anchor our facial tissue stays firmly attached while the fat pads around them lose volume and shift. That change in support can create a visible crease or indentation through the mid-cheek that suddenly seems to appear out of nowhere.
Restoring support with mid-cheek filler, and sometimes also pyriform filler, can often create a softer, brighter, more rested appearance.

A lot of people come in asking about their jowls, but what they’re often noticing isn’t actually the jowl itself.
As we age, we lose support in the lower face. Bone resorption, collagen loss, and changes in our fat pads can all contribute to tissue shifting downward over time. When that happens, the area in front of the jowl starts to hollow, which can make the jowl look more noticeable.
One of my favorite ways to address early jowling is by treating the chin, pre-jowl, and chin shadow. By restoring support in these areas, we can smooth out the transition along the jawline and camouflage the appearance of the jowl without treating the jowl directly.
Another benefit that surprises a lot of patients is what happens under the chin.
Sometimes adding projection and support to the chin can actually improve the appearance of submental fullness. We’re not removing volume under the chin, but by improving the structure underneath, the tissue attached to it sits differently and the jawline often looks more defined.
It’s a great example of why facial balancing matters. Sometimes the area that bothers you isn’t actually the area that needs treatment.

Sculptra is that girl 💅
When injected into the skin, Sculptra acts as a scaffolding material that triggers your body’s natural wound-healing response.
→ Once injected, Sculptra particles sit in the tissue and signal your fibroblasts (the cells responsible for collagen production) to get to work.
→ Your body basically says “there’s something here that needs support” and starts building new collagen around the particles.
→ Over the course of several weeks to months, the PLLA gradually breaks down and is absorbed by the body.
As new collagen forms, the dermis thickens.
Thicker dermis = stronger skin structure.
When the skin has more structural integrity, it becomes:
→ Firmer and more resilient
→ Better at reflecting light evenly
→ Smoother in texture
→ More hydrated (collagen holds water)
The skin quality improvement is honestly my favorite part of Sculptra.
Patients come back a few months later and they’re like “my makeup sits better” or “I don’t need as much concealer anymore” and it’s because their skin texture has genuinely improved.
It’s just healthy, thick, collagen-rich skin doing its job like it’s 20 again.
So what do I actually use Sculptra for?
→ Global volume restoration (especially for patients who are thin and need an all-over boost)
→ Improving skin quality in areas with crepey texture (like the neck or décolletage)
→ Temple hollowing
→ Midface volume loss
→ Preventative collagen banking for patients in their late 20s and 30s

What to do if you hate your jowls ↓
Depending on the factors causing the jowling, I’ll most likely recommend one or several of the following:
→ Biostimulators to add volume and create structure
→ Filler in the pre-jowl sulcus to give more structure
→ Collagen-boosting treatments to strengthen the skin
→ Botox to minimize the downpull from muscles
As usual, it 100% depends on you and your unique facial structure, but these are the treatments I go back to for jowling, time and time again.
