Apparently after 21 years of doing hair, there are still firsts. 😂
Enter: my first color request on a 100% human hair lace-front wig.
Now, coloring human hair? I know her. We’ve been friends for a LONG time. Coloring human hair that’s individually tied onto a super delicate piece of lace? Different situation.
The lace is designed to disappear against the scalp and create that super natural “hair growing directly out of your head” look. The problem is, hair color does not care about any of that. 😂 If color gets onto the lace, it can stain the mesh—and instead of a beautiful, invisible hairline, we’ve now created what looks like a bleeding scalp.
Very avant-garde. Very horror movie. Not what we were going for. OBVI. 💀
And there’s another side to this that people may not realize: a wig like this is incredibly personal and intimate. There’s usually a story behind why someone is wearing one, and trusting someone to alter it is a BIG deal. Add in the fact that this particular wig costs around $5,000 and suddenly we’re not exactly in the “oops, we’ll fix it next time” category. 😂
This is the kind of service where experience matters because a mistake can be a very expensive mistake.
So the assignment was: get the hair exactly where we wanted it without letting that color touch or bleed onto the lace.
Basically, I spent three hours treating that hairline like I was defusing a $5,000 bomb—holding my breath and definitely saying a few prayers along the way. 🙏🏼😂
21 years behind the chair and hair is STILL finding new ways to challenge me, teach me something new, and keep me humble.
But I have to admit… I kinda love it. 🤍
Because the back of your hair is someone else’s front view🫶🏼
If you’ve ever rage-thrown a can of hairspray because the nozzle quit working… while there’s STILL 3/4 of the product left… this one’s for you. 😂🙋♀️
One of the girls at the beauty supply taught me this little trick, and I haven’t looked back.
✨ Before using a brand-new can, gently stretch the little tube inside the spray nozzle✨
That tiny tube is where the product travels, and giving it a little stretch can help improve product flow and reduce clogging as product builds up over time.
Since I started doing this, I’ve been able to use my spray cans all the way to the very last drop instead of tossing them early.
It’s one of those random beauty hacks that sounds too simple to work… until it does🙌🏼
He is on his way to NAU with these curls and magical mullet 😭🙌🏼🫶🏼 excited for you Z
Yall have been getting the teasy/air touch highlights the last few weeks and i wanted them too🤌🏼😭. Shout out to my cancelation so i could do my own hair and the toddler cutting cape 🙌🏼🤣😜 ☀️
4 bowls of bleach, 1 bottle of scalp protector, 1 bottle of toner or gloss. Loved every minute of this big change. We have been coloring his hair for years. So when i said we should bleach it out and like white not this orange crap these kids are doing at home and he said yes i was so excited.
