I am a recovering control freak and I still have my days of trying to do it all, but I’ve got to tell you, that learning to let some things go and asking for help has been one of the best things for my body and “glow up”.
First off, I’m fully aware there are a lot of oblivious dads at there who don’t see their wives drowning or wouldn’t help even if she asked, but have you asked?
Or maybe it’s just a matter of letting the house be messier, saving the laundry for later and saying no to some of the never ending birthday parties.
What I’m trying to say is, carving out time for YOU is essential. If you don’t cortisol will only continue to rise, anxiety will dominate and resentment will build. None of those things help make you a better mom or partner. And they certainly aren’t helping you be hot!
This is one of the reasons I names my program The Hot Mom Method. It was tongue in cheek when I started noticing the glow up my clients were having by addressing some of these issues and just stuck.

How did I get into hormones and what are my thoughts on birth-control are up there in the most common questions I get asked.
So here is the deal, I was put on BC less than a year after starting my cycle to help me regulate and to help with acne. I was not sexually active and as an insecure 16 year old girl all I needed to hear was less breakouts and not needing to be scared I’d randomly get my period when I wasn’t prepared and I was sold.
I seriously don’t think a single side effect was mentioned other than being told not to take up smoking or to use back up protection if I missed a pill. Neither applied to me so I didn’t care.
Over the next 9 years I would not go off except to jump to different versions in hopes of finding one that didn’t make me feel bloated and crazy. It was totally the norm to be on it. All of my friends were and I never considered stopping.
The problem was that it was causing issues that seemed to be completely unrelated such as depression, PMS, difficulty healing and being sick more often…all of which immediately resolved when I did finally give up and quit in my mid 20s.
Immediately!
When I started to look into it, I became obsessed and couldn’t stop. The amount of side effects not mentioned blew me away and led me down rabbit holes that eventually landed me in my graduate program.
Birth-control is not an innocent wonder drug. Our hormones impact so much of our mental and physical health. Maybe I was more sensitive than most, or maybe I just knew how I felt wasn’t normal. Who knows. But years later, I at least know I wasn’t crazy or alone.
I could go on and on about this topic. In fact, I will dive a little deeper soon so follow along while I share some birth control findings.
You might be thinking, “I want to want it,” but can’t actually muster the real energy or desire. Or maybe it doesn’t even cross your mind.
If you’re all touched out and wondering if that part of your life is completely gone, I totally get it. And trust me, there is a perfectly reasonable explanation behind it.
Hormones tank after childbirth and most of us don’t support our bodies in a way that can help manage stress and replenish estrogen and testosterone.
When I had my kids I didn’t even know that was a possibility until after the fact when I started digging into it!
If you are one of the many women wondering if you will ever get your groove back (before the kids leave for college) comment below and I’ll send you some info.
Whether it’s joining the Hot Mom Society or starting with my Substack Hijacked, I have some great resources to help you start to feel like YOU again.
Mommy brain was supposed to “go away” after a couple of years. Most moms could have told you this wasn’t the case, but research is finally backing it and we now have proof that it’s still not back up to normal levels at 6 years…possibly beyond.
While this is super helpful at making us attune to our baby’s needs, it doesn’t translate well into the rest of life and can impair our ability to function as well at work or handle outside stressors.
While I can’t help you regrow your grey matter faster, I can help you with the skills to adapt. I have struggled with this so much myself I’ve tried everything I could find and have applied it all in my Hot Mom Method.
If you are interested in learning more or about how to join the Hot Mom Society, comment BRAIN below and I’ll send you the info.
In the meantime, don’t let mom brain get you down. You’ve got this!
Any tips?
First week of school and I’m already like, “Whelp, today was a wash!”
I honestly don’t know how some of you do it with multiple kids in multiple schools and activities. You are my hero’s!
Guess that whole 6 weeks postpartum recovery thing really was BS. Shocking, I know.
Research is finally showing what mom’s have probably always suspected, postpartum recovery takes years. Up to 7 years for some.
This means that even women who start having children in their 20’s can find themselves hormonally “behind” going into perimenopause if they choose to have multiple children. For those, like myself, who waited until later…well who knows if we’ll ever “recover”.
Since I’m not one for waiting for the research to tell me what I already know in my own body, I started putting things to the test with myself and my clients. And here is where The Hot Mom Method was born.
If you’re struggling with energy, brain function, low level anxiety, gut issues and just this low level feeling like you’re not yourself anymore, it’s worth looking into The Hot Mom Society, my hybrid group coaching program.
You get step by step instructions in bite size pieces (because who has time to think or add another to-do to their list), along with weekly calls for deeper dives on topics and the option to come with questions.

I keep having the same conversation. She can tell you every practice time, every fundraiser deadline, every thing everyone else in her house needs this week.
What she can’t tell you is one thing she was supposed to do for herself today or why she walked into the kitchen in the first place before she got distracted by 20 different things.
She’s exhausted but wide awake at 2 am. Her hair is in the shower drain. The weight won’t move. Her doctor keeps telling her everything looks fine and her labs all came back normal.
So she’s been building her own protocol out of scraps. A diet she can’t sustain from the influencer with a secret chef. A shelf of supplements she bought off some ad and can’t tell whether or not they work. A Peloton she resents because all the workouts mean she has to wash her hair after.
And now she’s decided the reason it isn’t working is her. It isn’t her. We aren’t supposed to figure out everything on our own. Plus, nobody has ever looked at the whole picture!
That’s what I do. Hormones, gut, sleep, nervous system, cycle, skin, fitness, all of it at once!. And then a step-by-step plan so you’re not the one making the decisions anymore.
Check that one off your to-do list.
Waitlist is open. Comment WAITLIST, and I’ll send you the link.
Following trends just feels so unnatural to me. Probably why I’ve never been one of the cool kids.
But here are a few Causey-isms that irritate most people and get me made fun of A LOT:
• I’m not chic. I don’t wear trendy fashion, I don’t perform trendy services in my spa, and I could care less about pop culture and am therefore in the dark about most of these things.
• If the rabbit hole were a vacation destination I’d have racked up enough frequent flier miles to travel free for life
• What annoyed my family and teachers growing up, now annoys everyone else. I want to know the why behind everything and now that I’m a member of the tin foil hat society, I’m doing a full background check
• Believe it or not, two things can be true at once! Someone’s actions can be both wrong and justified. An ingredient can be both toxic and medicinal in small doses. You can hold a set of beliefs and still not support EVERTHING a similar group of thinkers stands for. Shocking!
• Then the most horrifyingly uncool thing about me. My face and hair are all mine and I technically work in the beauty industry. Yeah, I got botox poisoning and it scared me straight. So here we are, emoting everything that crosses my mind. Frankly after learning that children of botoxed mom’s were more likely to develop sociopathic tendencies, I’m convinced it’s for the best.
So there you have it folks. The things that are kinda “not” chic about me. Now I want to know yours. Drop them below.
One day this story won’t make me angry any more, but since I’m currently recovering from my second surgery to fix that ailment that was all, “in my head”, that day is not today.

Everyone stresses about the surgery itself and aftercare. What they don’t think about is how much the weeks leading up to the surgery actually impact outcomes.
I had major abdominal surgery last week to fix an ongoing health issue and previously botched surgery. I went into it knowing that the weeks leading up to it mattered just as much as the recovery itself.
While I was far from perfect, here’s what I actually did to prepare as a former healthcare worker turned hormone specialist who now gets to be the patient.
I cleaned up my diet as much as my body would let me, even while dealing with the nausea and pain that led to needing surgery in the first place. I focused on lowering inflammation with a low sugar, high omega-3 approach, until I had to pull back on blood thinners the week before.
I protected my sleep like it was part of the preparatory prescription.
I worked on regulating my nervous system harder than I ever have, leaning into faith, prayer, and finally letting myself process emotions I’d spent most of my life avoiding. If you’ve ever read “The Body Keeps Score” you’ll get where I’m coming from here.
I barely exercised, especially after jacking up my shoulder two weeks out and choosing to let it heal instead of pushing through it. I did not want recoverying from a workout or injury to distract from my healing.
I upped my hydration and electrolytes ahead of time, knowing bowel prep would deplete me fast.
None of this made the surgery easier. I didn’t come out of it ready to hit the ground running by any means. But it did make my body more ready for it and the recovery much smoother than my previous surgery.
Next step, getting back to “normal”.
