Understanding your client’s lifestyle and maintenance preferences are a crucial part of the consultation. Giving someone who doesn’t want to be coming into the salon every 6 weeks a full highlight or a balayage that was high contrast and needed in between toning sessions is not the move. On the flip side coming to the salon can be a part of their self care that they want to be doing more often so we could go a little more high maintenance with her color whether that means a full highlight or even a balayage that needs toning more often.
Talk to your guests and make sure you’re on the same page before moving on with the service. Just because you can doesn’t always mean you should

Straight vs. curled. Straight you see more light plus the nice blend vs curled you get all the depth and dimension. I like both but if you really wanna be able to tell if your balayage is not a balayFLOP it should look good straight AND curled. And that’s on that my babes ✨

Something I want to scream from the mountain tops is this right here! See the very subtle lightness around her face? This is the kind of dimension that I think is super hot right now and only going to last. This slight dimension gives you truly natural looking highlights (that you can keep up but you won’t be stuck in because you can let it grow out and be fine) BONUS my ladies fighting off those white hairs- especially my brunette babes that don’t want to be blonde- it will make that hairline grow out less harsh. It’s going to soften and brighten your whole face. Trust me. You need this 😊
