🖤 A Little Reminder From Behind the Chair 🖤

I wanted to share something from the heart.

I absolutely LOVE what I do, and I am incredibly grateful for every single person who chooses to sit in my chair and trust me with their hair. I take a lot of pride in my work, and every day I walk into the salon, I strive to give each client the best experience and results that I possibly can.

But I also want to gently remind everyone that behind the chair, I am still just one human being. 🖤

Just like everyone who sits in my chair, I have stressful days. I have hard things happening in my personal life. I have days when I’m tired, overwhelmed, distracted, or simply not operating at 100%—but I still show up and give my clients everything I have.

And sometimes, even when I’ve done everything correctly, things happen. Foils can slip. An extension string can loosen. A toner can grab differently than expected. Something may look a little uneven once you get home and style it yourself. Hair is not an exact science, and neither are the hands working on it.

What I can promise is that I stand behind my work.

If something isn’t quite right, please reach out to me within a reasonable timeframe and give me the opportunity to make it right. I am always willing to tweak or adjust something when needed. I would much rather have a conversation and find a solution than have someone leave feeling unhappy.

I hold myself to a very high standard, but I also have to remind myself sometimes that being good at what I do does not mean being perfect every single day.

There is a real person behind every appointment—someone who has a family, responsibilities, stressful days, hardships, emotions, and a life outside of the salon.

I give my clients grace when they’re having a hard day, running behind, going through something personal, or simply aren’t themselves. All I ask is for a little of that same grace in return. 🖤

I love my career. I love the business I’ve built. And most importantly, I truly love and appreciate my clients. Thank you to everyone who continues to support me, communicate with me, trust me, and remember that there is a human being behind the chair—not a machine.

I’ve gone back and forth about sharing this, but I think it’s an important conversation to have.

This post isn’t meant to criticize another stylist. It’s meant to raise awareness for anyone investing their hard-earned money into their hair.

I’ve often heard comments that hairstylists are “money hungry” or charge what they do simply because they can. After seeing three color corrections in my chair this past week alone, I feel it’s important to offer some perspective.

Not every stylist specializes in every service—and that’s okay. Blonding and corrective color are highly technical services that require extensive education, experience, and a willingness to know when a client would be better served by someone who specializes in that area.

As professionals, we all have different strengths. Taking on a service outside of your expertise can sometimes leave a client with disappointing results and, unfortunately, a much more expensive correction. In many cases, correcting color costs significantly more than doing it correctly the first time because of the additional time, product, and care required.

My hope is that this encourages clients to do their research, ask to see a stylist’s portfolio, and choose someone whose specialty aligns with the results they’re looking for. Investing in the right stylist from the beginning can save time, money, and help protect the integrity of your hair.

To my fellow stylists: knowing when to refer a client to someone else isn’t a weakness—it’s professionalism, and it puts the client’s best interests first.
