Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, the day news of emancipation finally reached enslaved African Americans in Texas, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.
Today, we honor the resilience, courage, faith, and contributions of those who endured, persevered and helped shape the generations that followed.
