Body Polish
đˇYour serene escape for luxury, rejuvenation and healing. Discover unmatched wellness today!đˇ You've never seen a "tanning salon" like Body Polish.
My name is Kristi Como, I am the owner of Body Polish and I live right here in Savannah. Nothing improves my confidence more than a touch of color to my skin, however, I also want to slow the signs of aging. So hence, Body Polish was born. My goal is to help you feel confident with the skin you're in. My promise is to treat you with the respect you deserve and not be ashamed to see you at dinner.
I need a little market research from my Body Polish peopleâŚ
Iâve been playing with an idea for something completely different, and before I build the whole thing out, I want to know if thereâs actually interest in it.
Think Private Client â beta version.
For 90 days, instead of buying a package, counting sessions or trying to figure out which treatment you should be doing, you give me your goals and basically let me take the wheel.
Youâd have access to everything we offer that makes sense for you, and Iâd build the plan, watch your progress, make adjustments, help guide supplements/peptides if wanted, and tell you what I want you doing and when.
Essentially: âKristi, hereâs what I want to work on. You figure out the rest.â
Very limited. Very hands-on. Very decision-free.
If I opened a small beta group for something like this, would you want the details?
Iâm just gauging interest right now, not asking anyone to commit to anything.

âď¸ The Sun and Skin Chemistry
Most people think of a summer tan as a cosmetic change. Some researchers in wellness and biochemistry argue it's also a biological defense against internal toxins. Melanin, the pigment behind skin color, can bind heavy metals like lead and mercury. Sunlight triggers melanin production, and that melanin acts as a natural chelator. The process protects against radiation, but it also traps circulating toxins in the skin.
đŹ Molecular Binding Power
Melanin's chemical structure lets it bind metal ions with high affinity. It works like a sponge, pulling toxic elements out of the bloodstream and locking them away. By isolating these metals, melanin keeps them from reaching the brain or liver, where they could cause oxidative stress or nerve damage.
* Melanin attracts positively charged metal ions.
* It gives the body a storage site that cuts down systemic toxicity.
* Higher pigment density means more room to store metals.
đ Natural Elimination Process
The idea of tanning as detox rests on the normal lifecycle of skin cells. As skin renews itself, the melanin-rich cells on the surface shed, and the bound heavy metals leave the body with them. This cycle of production and shedding gives a non-invasive path for detoxification using the skin. More melanin from a tan means more containers to catch and carry off these pollutants.
đĄ Balancing Modern Exposure
Exposure to lead, cadmium, and arsenic through food and water is common now, so natural sequestration methods matter more. Traditional medicine focuses on pharmaceutical chelation. People who prefer natural approaches point to the body's own systems instead. Melanin is a first line of defense, and skin's response to the environment goes well past a change in shade.
𼌠Nutrition and Melanin Production
Certain nutrients and habits can support this defense. Feeding the body what it needs to produce good melanin keeps the sequestration process running well.
* Foods rich in copper and tyrosine give the body building blocks for pigment.
* Drinking enough water helps skin keep up its turnover rate for exfoliation.
* Keeping oxidative stress in check lets melanin bind toxins instead of just fighting inflammation.
đĄď¸ A Protective Shield
The link between sunlight and heavy metal binding sits at a crossing point between environmental biology and human health. Tanning is a functional response, not just a look. The body keeps a quiet watch against the toxins of daily life.

Some people come into your business to fill a position. Some become part of your story. Helen is the second one. Over the past several years, sheâs been so much more than just a client or an employee. Sheâs been a sounding board, a calming presence, a problem solver, and one of those rare people who notices the little things before anyone else does. Sheâs cared for our clients the way I would, and if you know me, you know thatâs the highest compliment I can give.
The exciting part is, Helen is retiring. The bittersweet part is that means weâll see a little less of her around the spa. Donât worry though. I fully expect sheâll pop in and keep us in line now and then.
Helen, thank you. For your friendship, your loyalty, and the heart youâve poured into this business. Body Polish is better because of you, and so am I.
With this new chapter comes an opportunity for someone special to join our team. Weâre looking for a part-time team member. But this isnât just any front desk position. We need someone who notices the details, someone who remembers clients and anticipates needs and takes initiative. Youâll help with front desk flow, client experience, retail, contouring assistance, notes, and keeping the day running smoothly. More than anything, weâre looking for someone who finds joy in making people feel cared for.
If that sounds like you or someone you know, weâd love to meet. Weâre not filling Helenâs spot. Weâre looking for the next great fit whoâll help write our next chapter. đ
Have you ever had to make a decision that cost you money but protected your peace?
People assume the hardest decisions in business are about money. More often than not, theyâre about protecting the environment weâve worked so hard to create.
Sometimes you have to let a client go.
(Even typing that makes me cringe a little.)
Because every client is a person. They have a story. Bad days. Financial stress. Family stress. Health issues. I know that. I try really hard to lead with grace because I hope people would do the same for me.
But thereâs another side to that equation.
Every no-show leaves a hole in our day that we canât refill. Every unpaid balance eventually has to be absorbed by a small business. Every time someone is disrespectful to one of my employees, I have to decide whether that revenue is worth asking my team to put up with it.
And thatâs where it gets hard.
I donât sit around looking for reasons to let people go. If anything, I probably wait too long because I keep hoping the next conversation will fix it.
Sometimes it does. Sometimes it doesnât.
At the end of the day, my job isnât just to keep the doors open. Itâs to protect the culture inside them.
I want Body Polish to be a place where clients feel cared for, and where my staff feels safe, respected, and excited to come to work.
If I allow the same behavior over and over because Iâm afraid to lose the income, then Iâm choosing money over the people who help me build this place every day.
And I donât think thatâs the business I want to own.
Grace? Always. Second chances? Usually.
But eventually, kindness, respect, and accountability have to go both ways.

Client win of the day!! ::dance party::

â¨Real talk: Not every transformation starts with fat loss.
These photos were taken just 5 days apart.
Five days isnât enough time for dramatic fat loss, but it is enough time for your body to start responding!
Less inflammation.
Less fluid retention.
Healthier tissue.
A smoother silhouette.
Fun fact: your body doesnât care what category the change falls into. If your jeans fit better, you move easier, your joints feel happier, and you look smaller in the mirror, thatâs progress.
At Body Polish, weâre not chasing one magic number on the scale. Weâre working with your body instead of against it. Some clients lose inches from fat reduction. Others see swelling decrease first. Most experience a combination of both over time.
Thatâs where the sweet spot is.
Because looking smaller isnât just about aesthetics. Itâs about feeling more comfortable in your own skin, moving through your day with less heaviness, and improving your quality of life.
Every body responds differently. Our job isnât to force the process; itâs to recognize how your body is responding and adjust the plan along the way.
This client is doing exactly that, and Iâm so proud of the progress sheâs making. đ
â¨Consistency beats perfection. Every. Single. Time.â¨
As always, pics shared with permission.
Your skin has been through a lot this summer.
âď¸ Sun.
đŚ Sweat.
đŠ Stress.

For years, I heard
âYou own a gym. You have access. If you wanted it badly enough, youâd just do it.â
Maybe they thought it was laziness. Maybe they thought it was self-sabotage. Dare I say, maybe they were right sometimes. đĽ´
But what I didnât hear anyone ask was, âWhy?â
Itâs hard not to let other peopleâs opinions become our own inner voice. The more often we hear them, the more we start believing them.
Now, I understand they were only seeing the surface. Having access to something isnât the same as having the â¨capacity⨠to use it.
You can have a gym membership and still be exhausted. You can know exactly what to eat and still struggle. You can have every resource in the world and still not trust the process because youâve been disappointed so many times before. đŻ
I know what itâs like to look like the person who âshould know better.â What changed wasnât that I suddenly became more disciplined. I finally found support that met me where I was instead of shaming me for where I wasnât.
That experience completely changed how I care for people at Body Polish.
I donât assume everyone needs the same treatment. I donât assume everyone needs more willpower. And I definitely donât assume that having access means youâre ready.
Sometimes people donât need another lecture. They need someone willing to understand why theyâve been stuck, earn their trust, and walk beside them long enough to take the next step.
Maybe thatâs what support is really supposed to look like.
At least, to me, thatâs what it feels like.đ
