My neighbors. We must continue to encourage and support their Dream, & the process. 🙏🏻💜😇

We want to take a moment to address the recent news regarding the 1899 Fruitville Road development project.

This news has blindsided us. There is certainly a lot to process. However, even in the midst of the unexpected, we have focused on the silver-lining: The 1920’s bungalows will continue standing along Fruitville Road and their small family businesses will remain open.

From the beginning, it has been our priority to save these cottages that hold such rich history for the Sarasota community. As for our neighboring small businesses who have become like-family to us over the past 17 years, we share in your relief. The pressure to relocate everything you’ve worked for, without a solid understanding of when and where, was heavy.

As for The Breakfast House, we will remain open at our current location at 1817 Fruitville Road until our new home at 128 North Briggs Avenue is ready. While this recent news was unexpected, we have made a commitment to this next chapter, and we intend to see it through.

Our vision has always been more than simply moving our restaurant. It is our plan to, not only relocate our restaurant, but, to build a new village that preserves Sarasota’s historic cottages. We need a destination for our community to gather that cannot be destroyed by new developments.

This new village will be a place where our community can come together to eat, shop, visit, laugh, and enjoy each other’s company. A place that feels welcoming, familiar, and uniquely Sarasota.

Change is rarely easy, especially when it comes unexpectedly. But we believe there is still something really special ahead for us, and we are excited to continue working toward it.

We also want to give a very special thank you to Ampersand Construction for stepping up and volunteering their time, knowledge, and skills to help us navigate this process and see this venture through to the end. Having people in our corner who believe in our vision and are willing to lend their expertise and support means more to our family than we can say. We are incredibly grateful for their generosity and commitment to helping us make this dream a reality.

We are so grateful for everyone who has supported the Sarasota Breakfast House through all of the twists and turns during our 17 years in business. From hurricanes to a world pandemic, through all of our times of uncertainty, your encouragement, love, and loyalty mean more to our family than we could ever put into words.

We are still here, we are still moving forward, and we cannot wait to share what is next.

Follow us Sarasota Breakfast House and Sarasota Bungalow Village for updates. ❤️
